Rep. Louie Gohmert, in a congressional hearing, challenged a minister who is president of the Americans United for Separation of Church and State, to clarify his Christian beliefs especially because the group is frequently at the heart of atheist-type attacks on public shows of faith.
Im curious, in your Christian beliefs, do you believe in sharing the good news that will keep people from going to hell, consistent with the Christian belief? Mr. Gohmert asked the Rev. Barry Lynn, during a House Subcommittee on the Constitution and Civil Justice hearing, The Blaze reported.
Mr. Lynns reply: I wouldnt agree with your construction of what hell is like, or why one gets there.
Mr. Gohmert then asked for more clarification, saying: So you dont believe somebody would go to hell if they do not believe Jesus is the way, the truth, the life? Mr. Lynn said those who dont hold fast to a specific set of ideas in Christianity arent necessarily slated for hell. Mr. Gohmert, however, pointed out the Christian-based fallacy of that belief, the Blaze reported.
No, not a set of ideas, the Texas Republican said. Either you believe as a Christian that Jesus is the way, the truth or life, or you dont. And theres nothing wrong in our country with that theres no crime, theres no shame.
Mr. Gohmert also made clear that he wasnt judging, or trying to judge, those who believed differently and that God grants free will for individuals to believe how they want.

Wouldn’t Louis Gohmert better spend his time challenging John Boehner or challenging McCarthy for Majority Leader?
He was demonstrating that these fiends calling themselves “Christians” working with atheist groups might as well be atheists themselves, even with their “reverend” titles. It’s always good to expose a hypocrite.
Either you believe Jesus Christ is the only way to the Father, or you don’t. And if you don’t, you are not a Christian.
It was a congressional hearing. What do you want him to do, skip it?
Frankly someone needs to challenge the so called Reverend.
I see your point.
‘Wouldnt Louis Gohmert better spend his time challenging John Boehner or challenging McCarthy for Majority Leader?’
From your mouth to God’s ears.
hehe
I have friends who have called them ‘Unitarians Considering Christianity’ for years.
Atheists, just like Muslims, are not content to coexist with Christians _ they will tirelessly lobby to criminalize Christianity. That’s what the Stalinists did, that’s what the Maoists did, that’s what Kim Il-Sung did, that’s what Pol Pot did, and that’s what Barry Lynn, Madalyn Murray O’Hare, Margaret Sanger, and most of the American liberals are trying to do. Richard Dawkins and company can’t wait for their ‘right’ to murder a schoolchild who dares to pray in school.
Keep that in mind the next time you see a “Coexist” bumper sticker.
People like Barry Lynn really irritate me.
They flap their gums about God but deny history of America and the churches that were a driving force behind it.
Preach it, Brother Louie. He has preached from the pulpit at our church before.
Lynn revealled he wasn’t a Christian just a guy with the word reverend in front of his name.
Exactly.
Its worth noting that Frederick Muhlenberg was also a pastor but didn’t feel that it was right for a man of God to take up arms and fight.
He got over that notion and joined the fight after the British burned his church.
Good for Louie for flushing out the repugnant poser and liar
Isn’t it presumptuous to call ones self “Reverend”? The word only occurs once in the KJV Bible and is referring to God.
Barry Lynn is a false Reverend who serves Satan.
That’s why I don’t like to refer to any human being as “Reverend”. I said this to a teaching elder in my church and he agreed with me.
Lynn was a leader of the anti-draft movement in DC and affiliated with several communist united fronts (i.e. the “peace movement” - New Mobe, PCPJ, etc).
Slick and sleazy, a young Saul Alinsky (whom I’ve met).
I wouldn’t be surprised if he was a closet communist like the late Rev. Bill Hogan (a friend of the Chicago politicos).

ROTFL!
