Priests, like every other good Christian, will try to assume the best of a person, looking for the most charitable possible interpretation of things. It is a sign of spiritual good health not to be constantly assuming the worst of a person. A public ceremony takes matters to a new level, as we see here.
Wow. What a biased report. I love it that the guy got sent to the cry room.
I’m sorry, that doesn’t wash. If you look at his Facebook page, he was not hiding his homosexuality in the closet - he was out and proud. So why did the church allow him to be in ministry at all? When he is publicly living a sinful lifestyle, the church should not have him working in ministry. And according to the story, he has gone to this parish since he was baptized there three years ago. So how is it that an unrepentant homosexual is baptized?
I am very glad you do not go to my Church.
There is another story linked to the one listed here that states he was baptized three years ago in this same church. And do you really think that someone who is so public about is homosexuality in every aspect his life somehow managed to hide it only from the priests? It seems clear from the comments of the other parishioners that THEY were aware of the relationship - how could the priests not be?
As far as being an unrepentant homosexual - I don’t have to know his heart, I can look at his actions. He just “married” his homosexual partner, which indicates that his is in active ongoing homosexual relationship. Since he has been in the same relationship for 30 years, he obviously was in an active homosexual relationship at that time. If you are living in an ongoing sinful lifestyle, you are by definition “unrepentant” - since the definition of repentance is to turn away from sin. He has not turned away from his sin, so he is unrepentant. I don’t see how anyone who claims to be a Christian cannot understand this basic fact.
You are right. God has mercy - for all who believe, repent (turn away, as from sin) and accept the atoning death of Christ as payment for their sins. God’s mercy to the sinner is that He does not destroy us and gives us room to repent and accept His salvation. But if we do not repent and continue in our sins, His Judgment will eventually fall on us.
At least somebody’s got some spine.
Clearly he and his partner will now be chaste after their commitment ceremony.

Apparently that’s not good enough! OK Catholics we have to turn in our Rosaries and report to the nearest approved by this forum Protestant church. Because face it we don’t know what’s best for us.
Why are all news articles written in favor of homosexuals? I think it’s called After the Ball, the homosexual manifesto, & apparently, they meant it. They’re screwing up the world. Our only hope is for G-d to straighten us out.
