Close friends of mine just left the UMC. They are both roughly 50 and had been lifelong Methodists, but they said they could no longer subject their children to what was being taught in their church. Most Methodists I know seem much more conservative and traditional than their leaders. I’m not sure if that’s as true everywhere as it is in Tennessee and Mississippi.

There are some truly bad Methodist churches, and some of them are in Tennessee, although Tennessee tends to be better on average than other places.

I really hope to hold the line against the pro-homosexuality group again in 2016, and the frustrated sexually promiscuous crowd cause a church split.

My 82 year old mom is having problems with her UMC church. They are getting a female pastor and my mom is not okay with that, but she’s old and doesn’t want to change churches.
