Catholic Word of the Day Ping!
If you aren’t on this Catholic Word of the Day Ping list and would like to be, please send me a FReepmail.
How is this not idol worship?
Worshiping the Lady of Lujan
No worship, only God is worshipped in the Catholic Church.
Veneration and honor, yes.
Perhaps your Bible doesn’t contain Cahpter 3 of Sirach about honoring your mother and father.
Could have fooled me.
"You shall not bow down to them or worship them" Exodus 20:5
Sirach 3:3 "Whoso honoureth his father maketh an atonement for his sins"
Sorry, Christ alone makes atonement for sins, and in the Old testament it was faith upon the sacrifice to be made by Abramham regarding the Lord "thou hast not spared thy only begotten son".
Is that not your understanding??
It is right to reject the book of Sirach for this severe error.

Is that not your understanding??
Therefore, it is right to reject the book of Sirach for this severe error.
Have you ever heard of praying? That’s what’s happening in the picture, not worshipping.
So if you sin, it is OK? You don’t ever have to say “I’m sorry” or “Please forgive me.”
Strange
The book of Sirach was inspired by the Holy Spirit. Are you saying you know better than the Holy Sprit?
Every sin destroys, obscures, or denies what is good; God, however, is all-good and the author of all good. Therefore every sin goes against God (also) and must be set right again through contact with him.
Already in the Old Testament God says through the prophet Ezekiel: “I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live” (Ezek 33:11). Jesus is sent “to the lost sheep of the house of Israel” (Mt 15:24), and he knows that “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick” (Mt 9:12). Therefore he eats with tax collectors and sinners, and then toward the end of his earthly life he even interprets his death as an initiative of God’s merciful love: “This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins”
Could have fooled me.
You didn't read the verse. It said "atonement for sins"
The Lord Jesus Christ said "Unless you believe that I am He you will die in your sins"(plural). There is no atonement for sins apart from Christ.
Sirach did not understand that it is the LAW, to Honor your Mother and Father, and that it is SIN not to do so. Honoring your Mother and Father does not ATONE for SINS. Only CHRIST Alone Atones for SINS.

This is a Grave Error leading to death.
So salvation is apart from Christ, sins are atoned for without the blood of Christ, and Faith is not required. Is that what you are saying Salvation??
Self-awareness fail.
I’ve read it several times, for it has been given to me as a penance in Confession.
Why argue about little things?
He understood it perfectly.
Unless you repent — you will die in your sins.
Yes, Christ died for our sins, but we must do our part too.
I am very much aware of worshipping only God.
You can’t do a personal judgment and know my mind like you stated.
