Megachurch pastor: Denominations that allow gay ‘marriage’ are ‘Satan’s church’
Life Site News ^ | Kirsten Andersen

In the wake of the Presbyterian Church (USA)’s recent decision to celebrate same-sex “marriages,” celebrity pastor John MacArthur of “Grace to You” has come out with some strong statements condemning “false churches” that abandon Biblical teachings against homosexual behavior.

“They have no allegiance to the Bible,” MacArthur told The Blaze online news service. “You go back to every one of those seminaries … for a century [they] have been deniers of biblical authority, they have no relationship to scripture, they are the apostate church, they are Satan’s church.”

While it seems clear MacArthur was implying that self-professed Christians who accept gay “marriage” are doing Satan’s work, not necessarily worshiping the devil, it is worth noting that the actual Satanic Temple of America has called same-sex “marriage” one of its “sacraments.”

MacArthur, who is Baptist, believes in the teachings of John Calvin regarding the inerrancy and literal truth of Scripture. The PCUSA also has its roots in Calvinism, but in 1967 the church updated its precepts to distance itself from Calvin and adopted a more flexible view of Biblical truth.

During a 2001 debate over whether the denomination would permit the ordination of openly homosexual pastors, PCUSA officials said, “We acknowledge the role of scriptural authority in the Presbyterian Church, but Presbyterians generally do not believe in biblical inerrancy. Presbyterians do not insist that every detail of chronology or sequence or pre-scientific description in scripture be true in literal form. Our confessions do teach biblical infallibility. Infallibility affirms the entire truthfulness of scripture without depending on every exact detail.”

In his interview with The Blaze, MacArthur lamented the cultural decline of mainstream denominations like the PCUSA, and said their watered-down approach to theology is a major factor in the increasing secularization of America, which he argues was founded on “cultural Christianity.”

According to MacArthur, the historical “cultural Christianity” of Americans has long been a stabilizing force for society. It didn’t mean that everyone belonged to the same church or worshiped exactly the same way, but it did mean that the culture as a whole had a shared set of values and generally believed they would have to answer to a higher power in the afterlife.

The founding fathers, MacArthur told The Blaze, “knew you couldn’t compel people to goodness” unless the majority of people believed in God. But in our increasingly agnostic society, the very idea of “goodness” is open to debate.

I agree. He doesn’t shy away from taking it to the ones that waiver.

You know if there is one thing I admire about some of these Baptist preachers its that they don’t mince words.

Oh how I wish the recent popes would do that.

I never could understand JPII, BXVI I could understand just fine... Francis is a weird combination of the two: I understand what he's saying but I don't know why he's saying it.

What for those that should take the mark of the beast there is no repentance after for salvation alowed?

God been very generous about allowing you to repent and be saved up to the last minutes..see the guilty man that died on the cross next to Jesus.

The whole story of the protocol son in on this subject of not resenting those that repent late and get the same reward

Also Jesus parable about the workers in the Vinyard..”the last shall be first and the first last”

'Is Salvation only through Jesus Christ'? People often get squishy on that question when they are surrounded by people of other religions -- as was MacArthur during this interview -- but he stood his ground on the rock and stated clearly what it was - Salvation through Christ alone.

Billy Graham couldn't even do that.

Indeed. They are of their father the devil.

“Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.”

Benedict knew how to speak clearly, but the media tried to drown him out, and Liberal Catholics joined in.

If you’re going to think that John MacArthur has “jettison” the Word of God over a question and answer statement on the end times, then you might as well give up on all the rest of us who have time to thoughtfully think through and respond with dumb answers.

There are few preachers today who are willing to stand up for the truth of the gospel. And their becoming harder and harder to find.

I have a wonderful set of John MacArthur’s commentaries which sit right next to my John Calvin’s commentaries. How come Reformists make the most sense?

Real simple...

Revelation 14:9 And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, 10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: 11 And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.

What part is unclear?

This should clarify the point of contention...

Is this unclear?

Because you do not alowed for repentence..all sin is described the same manner.. you are lost if you do this thing..and you are forgiven if you repent and call on the blood of Christ for forgiveness..

Are you saying Christ only died from some not all sins?...

Are you saying Christs blood does not wash away all sin but only some sins and not others? ...

When did Billy Graham say one could find salvation outside Christ?

Ive heard Franklin say precisely the opposite...no acceptance of Jesus as son of God....no Salvation

The path to everlasting life only thru him....

Ive heard Glenn Beck new agers hint good Jews get a get out of jail free card

No scripture in the New Covenant says that....

That passage does not make exceptions.

It does not say that the person can repent of it and be forgiven.

Remember, after a time of pharaoh hardening his heart, God hardened it for him.

There comes a time where even God says enough. The verse says that if anyone receives the mark, the same SHALL.......

What part of that is unclear?

No if’s, and’s or but’s.

A conversation with the New Age heretic Robert Schuller:

Dr. Schuller: “Tell me, what is the future of Christianity?”
Dr. Graham: “Well, Christianity and being a true believer, you know, I think there’s the body of Christ which comes from all the Christian groups around the world, or outside the Christian groups. I think that everybody that loves Christ or knows Christ, whether they’re conscious of it or not, they’re members of the body of Christ. And I don’t think that we’re going to see a great sweeping revival that will turn the whole world to Christ at any time. What God is doing today is calling people out of the world for His name. Whether they come from the Muslim world, or the Buddhist world, or the Christian world, or the non-believing world, they are members of the body of Christ because they’ve been called by God. They may not even know the name of Jesus, but they know in their hearts they need something that they don’t have and they turn to the only light they have and I think they’re saved and they’re going to be with us in heaven.”
Dr. Schuller: “What I hear you saying is that it’s possible for Jesus Christ to come into a human heart and soul and life even if they’ve been born in darkness and have never had exposure to the Bible. Is that a correct interpretation of what you’re saying?”
Dr. Graham: “Yes it is because I believe that. I’ve met people in various parts of the world in tribal situations that they have never seen a Bible or heard about a Bible, have never heard of Jesus but they’ve believed in their hearts that there is a God and they tried to live a life that was quite apart from the surrounding community in which they lived.”
Dr. Schuller: “This is fantastic. I’m so thrilled to hear you say that. There’s a wideness in God’s mercy.
Dr. Graham: There is. There definitely is.”
