"Counting up the dough / Counting up the dough / We shall come rejoicing / Counting up the dough!"
Nobody said that at all.
That's not what the article is about. Try re-reading it, if you read it through in the first place.
It works for Mormons, tithing is mandatory in Mormonism and is verified every two years, if you fall short, then you are kicked down to the normal Mormons and can only attend the plain church buildings and are forbidden entrance into the Holy Temples and the secrets and relationships therein.
I’m not the person you asked, I believe MM is Mike Murdock.
Tithing is the way to prosperity.....for the pastors!
....on many occasions the pastors would mock the members who did have college degrees....
Actually my finances began to straighten out after I began tithing. No one told me to tithe. It was my own decision from my own study.
Yeah, it depends on if you’re on the giving or receiving end of things.
That’s different than giving to gain.
If you’re just giving to get something in return and not out of conviction because God wants you to, I can’t see why God would honor that.
No, I think his current jet is getting old and he needs a new one.

GOOD ONE!
“GOOD ONE!”
I’ll have to confess it’s a line from the John Grisham movie “The Rainmaker”.
In the small Southern Baptist churches I have attended since becoming a Christian I have not seen this type of preaching. I have seen the tithing preaching, but not associated with becoming wealthy. This article was painting with a broad brush and preaching moral relativism.
“I want to focus on the plight of the black saints who sit under the ministry of black pastors (and some white pastors) Sunday after Sunday and continue to live paycheck to paycheck.”
Yes I know about this too! I’m currently helping one of those pastors by rounding up (used) clothing, for him, when ever I can. It sickens me to see those TV preachers with their million dollar suits begging for more. I wish more could see through the scam. Help your local pastor even if it means all you can do is donate or find a clothing bank to give him clothing. Or what ever else he (or his family) needs. BTW I’m not even a member of his church.
bump!
Tithing does two things...one it follows the Biblical command to tithe/bring an offering to the storehouse. This was started in the OT and continues over to the NT. Second, when we tithe we also are putting our finances in order. Often, there is a realocation of the budget, which for most of us is fixed, in order to be able to tithe.
Sadly, a lot of churches today do not teach proper Biblical tithing. Many treat God like an investment firm.
I tell people who believe that if God is an investment firm and you put money in you get money out, then Paul got ripped off. He gave up everything he had to follow Christ. He was not a wealthy man, at least from a dollars perspective, from what we can tell. But think of the other riches he had/has.
True treasures are in Heaven.
