Tony Palmer, the charismatic young preacher who enjoyed a friendship with Pope Francis, has apparently died in a motorcycle accident.
Not a Catholic, Palmer was bishop in the Communion of Evangelical Episcopal Churches, a group that is inspired by the middle way of classical Anglicanism and considers itself part of the Convergence Movement.
News is spotty at this point; but according to Archbishop Charles Hill, presiding prelate at Ambassadors for Christ Ministries of America (AFCMOA) in Atlanta, Palmer was in an accident while riding a motorcycle in the U.K. After hours of surgery, Bishop Palmer died on Sunday, July 20, 2014.

Bummer. He’s the guy that mediated the hookup between the current Roman Pope, and the televangelist word-faith guys.

My walking nightmare is will Pope Francis go to the funeral... and what will he say if he does.

Who are you worried about saying something? Just wondering.

I’m worried about Pope Francis saying something about his “brother bishop” again. I watched the hour long Kenneth Copeland video about Tony Palmer and Pope Francis and while I cringed when HH called Palmer his brother bishop I almost lost my hair when they started praying in tongues (not the pope btw, but that eventuality scares me too).

OMG! I can’t figure out if Francis might have a touch of senility or just no common sense. He did spend a lot of time teaching.

I watched the Holy Father’s bit. Interesting. Not sure I can watch the rest of it. If I don’t what do I miss?

I watched the Holy Fathers bit. Interesting. Not sure I can watch the rest of it. If I dont what do I miss? There's one part where Copeland reads from the Lutheran/Catholic joint document on justification and says something along the lines of "folks, the protest is over!" My mind is pretty foggy about the rest of it though because once they started speaking in tongues my brain shut down.

LOL, OK. I guess they are all just trying to get along. I can't really watch that sort of ministry. It just does not speak to my heart.
It's pretty indicative of the touchy, feely, oh! aren't we all wonderful sort of "theology" that I have always run from. :)

I can't really watch that sort of ministry. It just does not speak to my heart. I grew up in that kind of stuff (minus the speaking in tongues and the wonky feel good theology) and it still makes my head spin. I couldn't stand it when I was 10 and I can't stand it 37 years later.

I hear you. I'm a Joe Friday! Just the facts! I hated those retreats with the new agey Sisters and their journaling and naval gazing. I guess it's cool if that's what helps you connect with God. But keep it to yourself, I don't want to hear it.
