NOWHERE in scripture can it be found that God wants us to be “happy”!
He does want us to find all our joy and satisfaction in Him, in knowing Him, having a relationship with him.
That may end in my death - not my happiness! John the Baptist nailed it when he said, “May He increase and may I decrease...” - not knowing that his decrease would be the ultimate decrease - death.
To see a proper perspective on the joy of knowing Christ I think of two great books: John Piper’s “Desiring God” and Chuck Colson’s “Loving God”. Both solid, scripture-based perspectives of what God is after including what was done on the cross in our the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord Jesus.
The Olsteen gospel is truly a false gospel........with bits of truth mixed in........
I suspect that is a far better read than ANYTHING emanating from Lakewood “church.”
Joy Robbers... I like that term
That.
And money. LOTS of money. Especially for the Osteens.
Conclusory statements like this are invalid without reasonable amount of evidence and proof. Gonna need more than a blank assertion, or you are just parroting the accuser of the brethren.
Every Muslim is a Christian heretic--technically, Pelagians, since they don't accept Christ as theotatos somatikos, God in the flesh, but only as a prophet, and moreover a prophet who didn't get the job done--and the bigger the Muslim, the bigger the heretic.
Every Hindu is a Christian heretic, since they believe Christ to be just one of an infinite number of avatars of the Brahman, which is the universe, not the God who created and sustains the universe.
That's just two, but together the two heresies comprise two billion people on their way to eternal damnation. Victoria Osteen, at worst, is misleading Christians into acting and thinking in ways that will make it more difficult for them to walk in God's will--and at best, she is leading many people to Christ, who would otherwise be also on their way to eternal damnation.

Oh, you thought it said, beloved, God doesn't want to prosper you but to be sick and in poverty.
What is the ONE reason the Bible gives for why the religious people killed Jesus and persecute his servants?
ENVY (Matt 27:18; Mark 15:10; Acts 7:9; Acts 13:45; Acts 17:5).
Same as it always was.
You are correct.
And without strong Christian teaching people will fall for other heresy.
You know her hubby denied the exclusivity of Jesus, don’t you? Opens the door for people to wander off into Mormonism, Hinduism, Islam, etc.
Besides, Scripture warns us to be on guard about heretics who call themselves Christian, not those outside the church.
That is the truth.
We thank God for our blessings.
I am in no position to demand anything.
I wonder if you didn’t mean to refer to Muslims as Arians. Arianism denied the divinity of Christ and insisted he was part of the created order. Pelagianism, semipelagianism, and Jansenism were all heresies concerning the interaction of grace and free will.
Exactly. BXVI is simply brilliant. Not this soapy pedestrian fluff stuff offered by the likes of Joel Osteen, Rick Warren, Rev. Schullers and their ilk.
Oh, so you condemn Joel for not condemning people because of their sin.
Did people flock to Jesus becasue he condemned them for their sin? Is there s need for people like you or I to go around telling others about their sin? Satan already does that. People came to Jesus because he offered them hope and forgiveness for what they aware all too aware of. No, Joel’s ministry is a reflection of the ministry and unconditional love and forgiveness the gospel of grace of God offers others.
Is this picture and caption of others’ attack on Joel supposed to be evidence of your wild assertions? You think that validates your accusations?
Sad.
Phillipians 4:10 But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now at the last your care of me hath flourished again; wherein ye were also careful, but ye lacked opportunity.
11 Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.
12 I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.
13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
The proper joy for a Christian. We are joyful in the Lord.
Very well said.
Did Jesus die for our sins or for you to get a better park place?
We are called to repent. What are we to repent of? Poor self-esteem? That's what Osteen would have us believe.
