You’re right. People tend to rather idiotically assume that Christians in other parts of the world have the same political opinions and even geopolitical opinions as them... just by virtue of being Christian. They don’t.

If someone has a political opinion that is different from your own, the bottom line is, this does not change the fact that you should stand in solidarity against genocide. I do not know how the Tutsis felt about Israel or the gold standard or criminal justice, but regardless I can say that the Hutus should have been stopped whatever from slaughtering them.

I believe Israel is a safe haven for religious minorities in the Middle East, and really the only example of such a nation. They are also very fair and overwhelmingly generous in conducting warfare. There are things I dislike about Israel. Tel Aviv is a cesspool of liberalism for example. But my feelings about Israel is that it is our number one ally in the Middle East, as it should be.

We can say that, and still declare that liking Israel is not the hinge factor when it comes to whether we endorse or oppose genocide and persecution.

Many on this forum tout the ‘Special Relationship’ between the USA and the UK... I wonder if they know what the average Brit thinks about Israel? Let me tell you, the reaction to Israel’s mention would not have been nearly as muted as it was here, had Cruz been giving a speech in many of Western Europe’s great cities.
