The document cited a 2011 survey of pastors in the denomination who were asked for their level of agreement with the following statement: “Only followers of Jesus Christ can be saved.”

While 41 percent said they agreed or strong agreed with the statement, 45 percent said they disagreed or strongly disagreed — something Menlo Park leaders lamented.

In 1986 did a sidebar on HPP, which it described then as the richest PC in the Western Hemisphere. Amongst its congregants was Ross Perot, the 7-11 family (Carpenters?), and a host of others.

I know there’s been turmoil since there so not sure how “rich” the congregation is now but I’m glad to see it asserting more independence.

I think the flip side is encouraging. Large bodies of Christians are willing to spend huge sums of money in order to share The Gospel without adulteration.

Amen to that. It is one thing if the parent church pays for and provides the building; quite another if the local congregation raises the money and builds.

Highland Park is one of the few remaining nice areas of Dallas County. The Mexicans, blacks and sodomites have taken over nearly everywhere else and have turned a once-Conservative region into a DemonRAT hellhole. The good people now control the suburbs and exurbs, where prosperity thrives and Christian principles abound.
