I lost my Mom last night. The good news is that Jesus was there to welcome her home.

My Mom is finally at peace in the arms of the Lord. After more than a year in a nursing home, she suffered a setback that she couldn't come back from.

She had a history of "mini-strokes" or TIA's over the past few years. She always battled back, but she always lost a step or two each time.

Two weeks ago, she suffered a severe hemorrhagic stroke. Bleeding on the brain finally left her helpless.

After a 5 day stay in the hospital, she was returned to the nursing home this past Tuesday. My two sisters sat with her during the day and I stayed with her overnights.

After a short conversation with her last night, which I'm not sure she heard or understood, one where I assured her that I would take good care of her daughters, she decided that she could stop worrying about them and let go.

It was peaceful.

She loved Jesus with all of her heart because she knew how much Jesus loved her.

I'm so sad and so happy, all at the same time.

You have my HEART-FELT sympathy. You only have ONE mother and she was in your life for many, many years. No one loves like a mother. She IS with our good Lord.
NOW, she will be praying for YOU.

My own mother passed last year, almost 95. It wasn't an easy end for her. I know also that she is with our good Lord and praying for me.

Your Mom sounds like a wonderful example of a saint in Christ. She leaves a legacy of children that love the Lord and each other and who never doubted she always loved them. Take comfort in knowing that you WILL see her again and you will have eternity to rejoice in knowing the joy of your salvation. Prayers for peace, strength and grace to get you through this time.

I have insisted that as we exit the sanctuary as a family that “For All The Saints” will be played and sung, full stop!

I’m so sorry for your loss; but you are right the comfort in knowing she is with Christ is what gives peace in the time of sorrow.

My Dad passed away 3 years ago, knowing he was immediately face to face with Jesus was the comfort.

Prayers for you and your family.

Are you my Mother? lol That is her request as well. She recently added a new hymn for her funeral: When Morning Gilds the Sky.

Glorious hymns!

My Father’s favorite hymn was “Children Of The Heavenly Father”.

It was played at my older brother’s funeral in 1981 and my Father’s in 2005.

I was never able to sing a single syllable either time.

I’m sorry. But just imagine the unutterable joy she felt when Jesus took her hand to lead her home.

The woman that lives in the room next to my Mom’s at the nursing home turned 103 this year.

Coffee. Black.
