Druggies and alcoholics are not who is being referred to as “liberals.” Or “the Left.”
“Liberals” or “the Left” hate natural marriage, the natural family, and children. They think 58 million murdered babies (in the U.S. alone) are NOT ENOUGH. They want Islam to win its battle to murder Christianity. (I think they think that after Islam does the real dirty work of beheading, shooting, and crucifying Christians, the Muslims can be put back in a box, or gassed, or mowed down.)
Druggies, alcoholics, and people with other problems, receive compassionate care EVERY DAY from Christians. They are not the issue.
The issue is the hordes of demonic people being deliberately churned out by the government schools, who are now the dominant group in the electorate. It is they who elected the demonic, Saudi-controlled terrorist in 2008 and 2012. (With the help of massive vote fraud, of course.)
The appropriate, virtuous reaction of a Christian toward an unfortunate caught in sin, and the appropriate, virtuous reaction to a Satanic, hate-filled, murderous enemy are two very different things.
Unless someone is "racist," "sexist," or "homophobic." Or harms the environment. Or eats meat. Or doesn't like Obama. Or owns a gun. Or homeschools their kids. Or says something "insensitive." Etc., etc. Liberals have their own list of sins and commandments, and are extremely harsh about enforcing them.

It comes down to the religion of Humanism that started with “you will be as gods” on which “liberalism” is based. In Humanism, it is the individual that determines right and wrong, not God.
In every way, Humanism is in opposition to Christianity.
So, in a nutshell, Liberals hate Christians because Satan hates Christ.

You really don't want to go there with all the issues facing the catholic church. We won't even cover the catechsim where it says catholics and muslims worship the same god. I put god in small letters as I am not referring to God as revealed in the Bible.

I stand by my earlier answer but will add sublimated guilt, and projection.
I am a walking bundle of strong opinions. A few are on questions I know a good deal about. Many more are on issues where I am on thinner ice. No matter. Unlike so many leftists, I do not care in the slightest if someone else agrees with me. I hold my positions honestly, have a keen sense of the limits of my understanding, am prepared to change my views if presented with better arguments, and am prepared to disagree civilly if there is no meeting of the minds. None of this means I am necessarily right; it merely means that I am operating in good faith.
I do not think the same is true of many on the left. A person operating in conscious bad faith is shamed by any witness, in word or deed, to the truth. Christians are imperfect. Christians sin. Christians freely acknowledge that we fall short. But we are not, usually, consciously living a lie.
A person living a lie ought of course repent and mend his ways. But if he doubles down on the lie, any witness to truth becomes hateful. The left despises Christians because they fear that we are right, and they are ashamed. This is also why the left more broadly is hostile to true independence and diversity of thought and expression. It is the liars, not the truth tellers, who are frantic to silence dissent and enforce conformity.
Because liberalism is a mental disorder...
