Daily Mail ^ | 13 October 2014 | John Hall

Posted on 10/13/2014 5:20:53 AM PDT by Gamecock

Catholic bishops meeting to discuss 'family issues' at a two week summit have said unmarried couples living together can be 'positive', and gay relationships and divorces must be welcomed.

Displaying remarkably liberal attitudes for a Church famed for its conservatism, bishops meeting in the Vatican today also said that a couples' decision on the use of contraception should be respected.

Unbroken tradition, blah, blah, blah.

What are FRoman Catholics going to do when this passes, in one way, shape or for?

I want to know who started the rumor that the Catholic Church is primarily a conservative organization.

They have held the line on marriage and family much better than other faiths/denominations. While there may be liberals within the hierarchy, until those positions are weakened they are the definition of tradition.

Will you eat crow when you discover that the “Daily Mail” new outlet is not a branch of the Catholic Church (the Church that Christ founded)?

These same lies were passed by the media in the 1960s when they said the Church will allow contraception. Instead the eternal ban was reinforced in Humanae Vitae.

Absurd. You think my understanding of how many Catholics are very liberal - rank and file and leadership - started with this little news item? How pathetic. You better run for the stain stick - you got kool aid all over you.

The question I have asked that has always received uncomfortable responses from Catholics is simply this. When the tradition of the Catholic Dogma, is in contradiction to scripture, which is supreme? Let’s postulate this thought exercise.

What happens if the Synod says that homosexuality is now acceptable to the church and the practitioners of if may be given communion? The same question could be modified for abortion or premarital sex and/or any number of other liberal ideas.

When has the “tradition” become a bridge too far?

When are supposedly “conservative” FR Protestants going to stop going ga-ga on every garbage headline from the MSM involving the Catholic Church?

The Catholic Church was “conservative” when conservative was cool.

Considering that a majority voted for Barry and many of the others voted for Mr. Better friend to Homosexuals than Ted Kennedy, I imagine they will ignore the bible and go with the church leadership...no matter what.

Christians need to leave that tent before the lightning strike hits it.

This is 2014! Better get onboard with the New Catholicism.

I’ll bet the local priests are far more liberal than any of our FRoman Catholic FRiends suspect. This passes and a bold, new tradition will be in the making!

I asked a Catholic in-law some time ago why so many of his fellow 'pro-life' Catholics here in Red England (and most blue states) voted for Democrats.

His response? "I don't know."

No doubt; we just had a CCD teacher stabbed to death in neighboring Jersey City, and the news article describes (with no irony at all) how she cohabited with her boyfriend, and he killed her when they broke up (and were still living together). Her Pastor described what a wonderful person she was, a pillar of the parish, with apparently no concern for the souls that had passed through her classroom...

My relationship with the Church is basically centered around the sacraments; I’m in no position to support them financially while they campaign for scholarships for targeted minorities while my children attend public schools...
