Regardless, I see no reason to be ashamed of what anyone wholly unconnected with me did hundreds of years ago.

With that said, you make the logical fallacy of assuming the Inquisition was the result of human wrath and anger. There was a serious problem at the time (Islamic subversion, confusion, doctrinal conflict) and the Inqusition sought to address it, using methods used by all people back in the day which don't jibe with delicate modern sensitivities.

I find it strange that Protestants and the hand-wringing left are so quick put aside their differences and join forces when it comes to the Inquisition.

“Regardless, I see no reason to be ashamed of what anyone wholly unconnected with me did hundreds of years ago.”

I assume it was your church? Do you indicate here, if so, that you find that behavior perfectly acceptable for those who claim the name of Christ?

“With that said, you make the logical fallacy of assuming the Inquisition was the result of human wrath and anger.”

It is not a logical fallacy and the ACTIONS that resulted from the Inquisition were sinful.

“There was a serious problem at the time (Islamic subversion, confusion, doctrinal conflict) and the Inqusition sought to address it, using methods used by all people back in the day which don’t jibe with delicate modern sensitivities.”

I know history, having studied it extensively. More importantly, I know Scripture, having studied it extensively. Nothing justifies killing those who disagree about the Scriptures. Ever. If anyone should know what God declares in His Word, it is those who claim to be leaders of His Church. They failed.

“I find it strange that Protestants and the hand-wringing left are so quick put aside their differences and join forces when it comes to the Inquisition. “

There were protestants who reverted to the same sinful behavior. I condemn both. I do not know the “hand-wringing left” you are bringing into the discussion, so I can’t comment about their beliefs or actions. As a Christian, it is clear what is right and what is wrong.
