How’s that? I see the proceeds going to charity, so frankly the analogy is lost on me.
I don't think the money changers were donating their profits to charity.
Usually we hear that the pope is hoarding these priceless artifacts for himself.
The NYT, no friend of the Catholic Church, estimates the value of the entire Vatican City-state at $10-15 billion, or about half of Harvard's endowment.
Not really money changers. The Sistine is a tourist attraction, part of the vatican museum. It’s always full of noncatholics taking pictures, pointing at the ceiling, etc. I have no problem with renting it out essentially, it’s rented out to those who wander through after paying a substantial entrance fee to enter the museum.
And personally, it wasn’t’ my fave part of the vat museum .they have wonderful collections of all kinds of art.
