An Italian Catholic priest apparently committed suicide after being accused of sexual abuse.
Father Maks Suard reportedly admitted his guilt after being accused of molesting a 13-year-old girl; the incident occurred 17 years ago. The accused priest asked Bishop Giampaolo Crepaldi of Trieste for time to compose a letter of apology, the Messaggero Veneto reported. He then hanged himself.

The old Judas mistake. He tried to punish himself to hell for what he did.
As Catholics, we must accept the vitriolic comments by others when these things happen, in part because they are reacting to the original injustice in a natural way, and also because it is our Church, our people, the body of Christ, that are so not living with the joy of Christ that folks can think this common or at least not an aberration. Unfortunately, many people prefer to base their judgements on anecdotal media reports.
Who cares what Psychology Today thinks? The Catholic Church’s own submitted data is quite damning. 4% priests accused of sexual abuse! Wow. And this is the data from the church itself which has a conflict of interest and a history of coverups.
But that is just the tip of the iceberg anyway. What about those priests that are not accused and get away with it? Sombering. Catholics can find no comfort in that report.
