Again, your list is fine if they were being consulted about a biopic about a reformation figure that is being marketed to a protestant audience. However, they are being consulted about a new testament adaptation that is being marketed to all Christians. Your list is no more appropriate for that purpose than if I were to come up with an exclusively Catholic list of consultants and claim they represent a diversity of Christendom. You would rightfully complain that those consultants would be appropriate for something that airs on EWTN, not for something marketed to all Christians.

I'm not happy with their choices, but that's Hollywood for you. I've heard their "Noah" adaptation is pretty much a bizarre sci-fi movie that has almost nothing to do with Genesis, so if A.D. turns out to actually be faithful to the New Testament figures, I will be pleasantly surprised. When Mel Gibson wanted to do a faithful version of version of Christ's crucifixion, he pretty much had to self-fund and do it outside the usual Hollywood system.
