Obviously, and it all has to do to with the addition BY the Roman Catholic Church of the “filioque” to the original Nicene-Constantinopolitan Creed (AD 325 / 381). As soon as the RC Church drops that changed doctrine, we can talk of other things.
I know it’s a slight difference that’s a really big deal. Still, I think someday they will reach an agreement and they will come together again.
Eastern Rite Catholics do not say “filioque”. This is not an issue.
Note that that is not the main divide. Orthodox patriarchs acknowledged that they understand the addition of the filioque does not impart two sources of the Holy Spirit. Perhaps it would be changed in council as through rather than and. Also eastern catholic churches do not use the filioque
I thought it was more the way the filioque was added rather than the addition itself.
