If you want to measure the global acclaim of the current pope, ask 100 random people about the Roman Catholic Church. While you will see a few thumbs up, most will express ambivalence bordering on dislike or distrust. Some will be hostile. Ask them about Pope Francis I, however, and the responses will be overwhelmingly positive. The Jesuit from Buenos Aires pleases many and brings smiles to their faces.

I don’t consider this a good thing. I want my pope to be faithful and true to the doctrine of the church, not a rock star. When I heard Elton John praise Francis I knew we were in trouble.
I don’t like him. The last pope seemed honorable and worthy of respect (and I say that as a non-Catholic). This one? He seems set on ‘fundamental change’ and that reminds me of someone.

I was neutral on him until 0 praised him which was as bad a sign as it gets. Everything since then has only confirmed my view. The Elton praise came a bit after 0 had chimed in.
Since when is being loved by the repobate world a good thing for a Christian?
Imagine a pope liked more by non-Catholics and Catholics that don’t practice the faith than devout Catholics that actually go to Mass and try to live according to the dictates of the Catholic Church. That my friend is this latest pope. Sad and depressing, but this too shall pass.
