The idea that the bible is the sufficient rule of faith and that salvation comes from faith alone are contrary to scripture.

Someone, apparently, disagrees with you...


 1 Corinthians 4:6

 Romans 15:3-4
3. For even Christ did not please himself but, as it is written: "The insults of those who insult you have fallen on me."
4. For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.

A good way to avoid unproductive arguments is indeed to keep them rooted in written materials of the Church, and especially canonical scripture.

Romans 15:3-4

Indeed, the Holy Scripture is written to teach us.
