Scripture is the subject of the disagreement. If we disagree on its meaning, how can it be used as “proof”? The argument simply moves on to the meaning of the proof and the can gets kicked further down the road.
I'm guessing never read, maybe heard at mass. In any case, doesn't seem to have any impact.
