Luther was a Jew-hating drunk, who tried to change the Bible, and he called the Pope the anti-Christ. In that day and age better men lost their head for half of what the heretic Luther managed to do.

Gonna have to go with the Jew-hating in word, with the published tracts, the rest is Catholic wishful thinking. Your saintly Pope on the other hand was a Jew hater in deeds. Much like the rest of the CC in its history. How many Jews were expelled from their homes by the hateful 'saint'?

In that day and age better men lost their head for half of what the heretic Luther managed to do.

Sadly true, many good Christians killed by the 'church'. But with the loss of secular power, the CC was rendered largely impotent in those matters, a victory for God, for mankind and for freedom. The hand of God is evident in this.
