Jonathan Cahn wrote a sequel to the Harbinger, called The Mystery of the Shemitah. I highly recommend it. It goes into a lot more detail.
Msgr. Pope's not saying the WHOLE prophecy or that ALL prophecies were fulfilled in 70 AD. That would indeed be silly. He IS saying that at least one part of the dread prophecy was fulfilled: Jerusalem was smashed, the Temple destroyed, and not one stone was left upon another.
That’s not preterism, and preterism is not Catholic doctrine.
**It will never be inhabited,
Nor will it be settled from generation to generation;
Nor will the Arabian pitch tents there,
Nor will the shepherds make their sheepfolds there. **
Interesting
Detail about what?
(I’ve read “The Harbinger.”
I took the good Monsignor’s writing to be about the Babylon (perhaps) of America in addition to other parts of the world.
Details about the timings and history of Shemitah—especially how it relates not only to the US, but the rest of the world.
**But what of us? All those ancient kingdoms fell not merely because their time was up, but because of sin and the collapse that pride and sin bring. And as for us, how can a nation or culture stand that is increasingly permeated by pride, godlessness, corruption, fornication, abortion, sexual confusion, families in crisis, lack of sexual self-control, gluttony, drug use, alcoholism, rampant pornography, and ridicule of authority, tradition, and faith?**
To me, that is talking about the United States.
‘Pride of the Chaldeans’ ... is that not quite specifically naming the people associated to this Babylon of destruction?
True, but read the last half of the article, please.
Rome is of no consequence today. We have these pre-conceived ideas about who Babylon is in the end, but like the author states, it is a system, which can apply to almost any political entity or nation today. It is worldliness as opposed to godly living. So, yes, it can be America, Italy, Germany, Israel, Malaysia, etc. Every denomination has their own theory as to who Babylon is, as well, with some blaming other denominations!
We are discipling a couple friends using the book, MULTIPLY. Very good book for this. We talked about Christian love and how it is displayed through love for other believers and unity. It will take severe persecution for unity and love to come to America, where we have to rely on the goodness of other believers not to betray us. ONLY when we are in the “same boat” will these attributes reveal themselves. The profane (tares) will be weeded out to evade persecution and the real Christians will remain. At that time we will realize that the gate IS narrow and few there be that find it. There are MANY professors of faith, but when the time of testing that is coming arrives, it will necessarily actualize the real number of true believers.
Yes, pray for repentance. Pray for our country to wake up to its spiritual calamity. And we need to start the repentance ourselves, like Daniel did when he was in Babylon. He repented of personal sins and national sins.
I watched the video thinking I was might learn something, there was nothing there except a song and caskets and drunks and things.
Sorry that you did not see the warning in the video. The people praying. Those who has died and will die. The destruction that even one storm can leave. The destruction of alcoholism.
Are you ready for total destruction of the United States.
Exactly.
“He IS saying that at least one part of the dread prophecy was fulfilled: Jerusalem was smashed, the Temple destroyed, and not one stone was left upon another.”
That’s an entirely different prophecy, not found in Revelation, so that can’t be what he is talking about.
That is a common misconception, sure.
Jerusalem, the great city, the holy city, was utterly destroyed. 1.2 million Jewish people lost their lives in the conflagration. Jerusalem was burned, and when the Romans were finished, not one stone was left on another. Jesus had warned of this day in the Mt. Olivet discourses (Mark 13, Matthew 24, Luke 21) and had wept over Jerusalem: O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, killing the prophets and stoning those who are sent to you! How often would I have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you would not! Behold, your house is forsaken and desolate (Matt 23:37-38).
He's not just talking about the Book of Revelation.
