American Blacks needed a hero. It turned out to be MLK. He was imperfect but who isn’t? On the face of it I look like the perfect wife, mom, grandmother, etc. But if you look deep enough you will find my flaws.
He definitely wasn’t a Christian!
Hate to say it but the majority of the liberal clergy especially those the Episcopal Church are agnostic or atheistic, don’t believe in the divinity or resurrection of Christ, and use their positions to promote neo pagan decadence such as abortion, the homosexual agenda and earth worshipping enviormentaism.
So what is being said here - that for all he did, MLK is in hell, because even though he did so much for so many people, and showed so much courage in the face of evil that he was killed for it, he wasn’t perfect and didn’t fit the generally accepted definition of Christian, and so even though he invoked Christ in his mission to give heart to people and fight evil - he’s now in hell forever, suffering like the most vile criminal?
What utter, complete rot. I reject such a conclusion with contempt. Jesus isn’t an accountant, and if MLK didn’t do enough, then no one can. He faced the murderous equivalent of nazistic hate and responded with teaching millions a response of love and nonviolence and human dignity and calling on God. There’s not one in a hundred who could do what he did.
And lumping him in with LBJ is obscene.
I don’t care how the Left had abused his legacy and name for their own purposes - it doesn’t change what he did and taught. And if what he did and taught wasn’t Christian, then Christianity is useless.

In point of fact, the Church did take this position—that the universe revolved around the Earth—until people started laughing out loud at them during church services and they couldn’t be hustled outside and burned fast enough.
With all of his imperfections its a good thing MLK became the main voice of the civil rights movement instead of Malcom X who would have triggered a violent race war and possibly influenced many more blacks to become muslim.
What is this, Common Core? No one was swearing or being out of line. Yet ask of a sudden a half-dozen posts of people discussing religious philosophy are erased without comment?

Seems, the move Selma trashes Liberial icon, LJB, as an obstructionist to MLK's civil rights movement.
Many in worldly leadership, and even in Church leadership, profess to be Christians but might not be. Ultimately that’s only for God to say, but Christians do have an obligation to point out heresy. I’m not sure, however, that everyone who voices some heresy is a heretic. Some people might be mistaken or ignorant on some point and unknowingly embrace a heresy. Since the Lord is always better training us, as Jesus did with the disciples, who jumped to many wrong conclusions (their situation being a little different though since the Gospel hadn’t yet been so fully revealed), we’re always having errors in our understanding corrected. True heresy would seem to be a knowing rebellion against what one knows and understands to be God’s Word.
Considering we were in the full blown cold war mode, he never was, is , or will be a hero in my book.
It’s about time! And I’m afraid since King’s time (or before) the exact same thing can be said about the vast majority of Black “ministers”—even in the rural South!

Without a doubt early stages of althiemers were affecting the thought process of President Reagan when he made MLK’s birthday a federal holiday. He had previously said many times that there were a lot of great Americans that didn’t have their own holiday and he didn’t see any reason why King should be given one. The great senator Jesse Helms refused to go along with the ruse and said if King was such a great man why were his FBI files sealed for the next 50 years. Helms said King was a communist, trouble-maker and philanderer and that is exactly what the FBI records would reveal if opened. To me it is a national disgrace that we only have one federal holiday for a president and that being George Washington, but King now has this honor. One thing is certain if Jesse Helms had been president no way in hell King would have a federal holiday in his honor.
