Most of my friends are, or are married to, accountants, teachers, attorneys, or doctors. They are much more than a "helpmeet". The entire household would collapse without them, both physically and emotionally. They are the hub that the household wheel revolves around. In these happy households, husband and wife each perform the role assigned to them by the Torah, although in today's times, there is quite a bit of overlap. But the main underlying precept is the respect that the husbands and wives show to one another.
One cannot be more than a helpmeet. It means a helper who is fully up to the task. Don’t disparage the term, use it in its fullest meaning. The PC and feminist crowd is trying to demean sex roles, but they work.
