The Director of Civil and Human Rights for the United Methodist Church, Bill Mefford, posted a picture to Twitter yesterday mocking the pro-life marchers. Mefford, who works for the Churchs lobby arm, the General Board of Church and Society, ridiculed the marchers by posting a picture of himself standing before them with a sign saying I march for sandwiches.[...]

(With apologies to the few, the faithful UMC pastors outside of the northeastern conferences.)
Bingo. The ones who stay are probably people who, as you say, have a conservative congregation and firm control over the criteria for which pastors they select. Also, many have family going back generations to the 1700s in the Methodist tradition; or have a cemetery plot at a Methodist Church beside their spouse or parents, and don't want to leave.
I was outraged routinely in Pennsylvania and Baltimore-Washington conferences and had to leave so as not to offend the Lord. But when I travel in the South, I can attend a UMC without fear of the buckets of marxist excrement one experiences in the northeast.
Comparing the life of a child to a sandwich doesn’t seem real Christian-like to me......on the other hand, a Methodist?????? oh well, I guess he enjoys his view of things.....sad.
Why does he still have a job at this point?
Thank You!
“I love to make people laugh.” Dead babies are just hysterical!
” So, please reach out to me if you prefer that too. Maybe we can all be strengthened through this.”
this guy may be stupid enough not to actually know what he did...
Excerpt of the non-apology...
“I also want to say that when I was at the event holding my sign I received nothing but laughter and cheers. Making folks laugh was my sole intent - it really was! It was afterward when this started making the rounds on social media that the hurt and anger began to rise. I understand why people are angry.”
Bill Mefford, the legal torture and murder of millions of American babies is no laughing matter. Do you REALLY understand why we are angry?
He just wanted to be funny and make people laugh. Nothing funny about abortion. NOTHING!
People in the comments are challenging his liberal belief system big time! Well done, twitterverse!
This guy needs a good freepin’. See post 23; he needs someone to explain “life” to him.
will do in about 2 hours.
He is a fool who is looking for attention but it also does show how churches have been infiltrated and now turned into bastions of left wing kooks or immature lazy men and women..
Looks like his Sandwich to Marching Ratio is dangerously high. He might want to start Marching for Fitness Club Dues.
>>From the outside looking in, it seems that many, if not most, of the large congregations are apostate. At the same time I know of small congregations full of traditional Methodists Wesley would recognize. Is that accurate?
Yes. Outside of the big cities, the congregations are mostly conservative. But, the pathway to ordination requires graduation from a select group of seminaries, and most of them are leftist. Quite a few UMC pastors that I’ve known grew up in more conservative churches, but they became college progressives. When they decided to go to seminary, they still had a passion for the Lord, but also the politics of a marxist. So, they “choose” the UMC because it offers them a good salary, lifetime employment, guaranteed appointments, and accepts their politics.
I left the UMC last summer because I just didn’t see anything that isn’t tainted by the politics of the clergy and especially the bishops.
Sad but true.
Absolutely disgusting, and why I will never grace the entrance to a United Methodist church.
I just tried to go back to the link of the “non-apology” and comments from the public that I linked above at post 23, and find that it is now behind a Google firewall.
Guess he couldn’t take the heat. So he must not be too sure of his position, theologically, or he would stay there and defend it.
Hope he learns something from this. Fetal lives matter. They can’t breathe.
He he’s got a couple of e-mails from this family.
Brilliant.
