Having a lot of respect for Sproul I would be interested to hear his response to your criticism (”Yet Jesus said, “Come to Me...”). My initial thought is that this is a more a case of semantics rather than doctrinal disagreement.

RE: your non-gospel “reformed” church: I would simply respond as I did above regarding “religion”.

The reality is that the Gospel is not (or should not) be viewed as a one-time event - “I accepted Christ when I was a teen-ager at camp, so now that I’m saved the Gospel doesn’t apply to me any longer.”

No. We need to pray and preach the Gospel to ourself every day. Every interaction should be sprinkled with Gospel grace (”there but for the grace of God go I...”).

The more I see how filthy my heart is, the more I see how useless my works are in and of themselves, to make God love me enough to save me.

It is in those moments that I realize how wonderful and precious God's grace really is.

You are narrowing the scope, and thereby missing the issue of the question. The question does not apply to your personal, subjective experience. It applies to any and every Calvinist. So let me rephrase the question...

“Does a Calvinist believe that the elect were ever in any REAL danger of going to hell?”
