I haven’t read the article but would be surprised if the artist wasn’t either a “liberal Christian” or atheist.
Wikipedia says the sculptor is a “devout Catholic.”
All that we can be assured of is that the sculptor got paid handsomely for his work but whose money it was is still unclear.
