Why did King David refuse to drink the blood of his soldiers that they retrieved from the well in Bethlehem?

Why did he refuse to drink the blood of a dead soldier pulled from a well? How about because he wasn’t deranged and insane?

No one in their right mind would do it.

because we are commanded only to drink the blood of our Lord.

1 Corinthians 10:16

the cup of blessing which we bless, is it not a participation in the BLOOD OF CHRIST?

Catholics have answered this question “yes” for 2,000 years.
I guess there are some who would answer Paul “No, it only REPRESENTS the blood of Christ”.
