>>Please provide your source for that etymology.<<

"The word "obelisk" literally means ‘Baal’s Shaft’ or Baal’s organ of reproduction. This should be especially shocking when we realize that we have a gigantic obelisk in our nation’s capital known as the Washington Monument." [Dr. Cathy Burns - Masonic and Occult Symbols Illustrated pg 341]

And yes, Bel is Baal. Baal was the sun God. It's traces all the way back to Babylon as I showed in the verses from scripture.

Thank you. I don't find that at all credible; the "Lodge" has its own version of history that just doesn't line up with reality very well.

Credible sources suggest a reference to a spit, as for roasting:

"rectangular stone column tapering at the top," 1560s, from Middle French obélisque (16c.) and directly from Latin obeliscus "obelisk, small spit," from Greek obeliskos "small spit, obelisk, leg of a compass," diminutive of obelos "a spit, pointed pillar, needle." Related: Obeliskine.

a tall, pointed, four-sided pillar of stone ... 16th Century: via Latin from Greek obeliskos a little spit, from obelos spit

The word obelisk is taken directly from Greek, where it is a diminutive of the word obelos, meaning a spit or similar pointed object.

Anybody who thinks that a tapered pillar with a square cross section and a pyramidal cap looks like a penis has problems. Serious problems. Such people should seek help.

LOL Anyone searching for the truth of the history of the obelisk can find it leads back to the sun worship and Baal.

Baal was the sun God.

That's not correct, either. There were actually several "Baals", none of which were "sun gods". I know that reference is only wikipedia, but it should provide a good start toward actually learning something.

Presenting warped and fabricated versions of ancient history does not lend credibility to one who is also attempting to present the Gospel.

Anyone searching for the truth of the history

LOL. That technique is called Poisoning the Well. It is a logical fallacy. Just so you know.

LOL Baal means "master" or "lord". The main god for all pagans was "Baal Ra" over all the lesser gods. Baal was the sun god of the Canaanites and Phoenicians, whose worship spread to the ancient Jews. The Philistines had Baal Dagon who's priests wore the same hat as Catholic priests. There is even Baʿal Zəvûv or Beelzebub as mentioned in scripture.

Mentioning what God had written in scripture is not “poisoning the well”. The Israelites were punished many times for messing around with different Baals.

Baal means "master" or "lord"

You got that right, at least. Not much else, though. "Ra" was the Egyptian "sun god", the "Baal" of the Canaanites was NOT a "sun god", the attempt to connect "Dagon" (also not a "sun god") with the Roman Catholics is fabricated bogus history at its worst.

And "Beelzebub" wasn't a "sun god" either.

This whole line of argumentation you're presenting is risible and at variance with facts.

Hiding one’s argument behind the claim that “Anyone searching for the truth of the history” will agree with it, is precisely Poisoning the Well.

Now why would you try to twist my words" Here's my quote

"Anyone searching for the truth of the history of the obelisk can find it leads back to the sun worship and Baal."

Did I say they would agree with it?

Do you agree with such tracing? You've been arguing in favor of such.

You wrote "The word o-'bel'-isk actually means the 'shaft of Bel" in #31. Are those not your own words? Do you disagree with them?

>>the "Baal" of the Canaanites was NOT a "sun god"<<

Actually yes the Canaanite's many gods included Shapash who was the sun goddess.

>>the attempt to connect "Dagon" (also not a "sun god")<<

I didn't say Dagon was a sun god.

>>with the Roman Catholics is fabricated bogus history at its worst.<<

Go look up what hats the priests to the fish god Dagon wore. Nice double pointed open fish mouth hats just like the Catholic priests wear.

History is what it is. God didn’t like any association with objects of worship to any other god and made that very clear in scripture.

Is it wrong to do the exercising without the chanting? I am a Christian, but don’t see how exercise would be sinful on its own.
We were told by one of the holiests priests around that the exercises alone are fine; it's the religion behind them that needs to be avoided.

History is what it is.

And it isn't what it isn't ... and what you're portraying as "history" is very much at variance to reality. It's wrong ... erroneous ... false ... counterfactual.

Go look up what hats

As if I haven't already examined this piece of bunk?

BTW, the word "obelisk" STILL has no real connection to the word "Bel" or "Baal". You're promoting as history that which is nonsense.
