...to be deep in history, one becomes a Jew....

Logically that is a good point.

I am sick to death of the religious fighting threads on the sole voice of reason on the internet, FR.

Can we please have a moratorium?

To not see Religion Forum posts, do NOT use the “everything” option on the Free Republic browse option list. Instead, browse by “News/Activism.” When you log back in, the browse will reset to “everything” - so be sure to set it back to “News/Activism.”

It seems like a lot of posters are eager to slam Catholicism while decrying the purported insults at them in the article.

Maybe showing the fruits of the Spirit would be more appropriate in these threads—on both sides .

The RC Church should have clergy who are married and thus avoid some unsavory scandals.

Yeah. Like Fr. Haggard. And Fr. Swaggart. If only they had been allowed to marry.

The Papists are at it again, slamming Protestants...in their usual arrogant backhanded way.

Protestantism is a effort to wrench ourselves past the spiritual darkness of the middle ages Papacy, back to the true faith and beliefs of original Christianity...the true “catholic” (meaning universal) faith.

“Pastor” Ted Haggard was married to but it didn’t keep him from snorting coke and having sodomite sex with other men.

Go to your local library and read “History of Christianity”. Come back and let’s discuss what faith started the Christian church and what religion has been around for 2,000 years. And it ain’t some PROTESTant “church” that was founded by Tom Jones or Bo Peep 400 years ago, or Marcel Ledbetter 10 years ago.

Then Jesus said to them: Amen, amen I say unto you: Except you eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, you shall not have life in you. He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath everlasting life: and I will raise him up in the last day.

Do you realize the earth is contained in His body, so when we eat, when we breathe, we eat His flesh, he breathes our lungs, we taste his blood in our water in rememberance of Him. It is His Blood that reveals these things, The Father has shown.

Well, then, everybody must be saved already. Hallelujah!

Seriously, though, and respectfully, that sounds like some New Age interpretation.

Your post is exactly what I am talking about. Thanks for illustrating it way better than I could. See folks, this is what I mean by “the intent” of the article and the poster.

The intent is totally clear for all to see. It isn’t to persuade or explain.

It’s ok, it’s truth.. mankind only likes symbols and rituals.. Christ is King..
He comes to destroy the destroyers of the earth..

No , not everyone is saved..being in His body only comes from a relationship with Him..accepting His sacrifice, new ager’s do not proclaim Christ as all.. But those in Him know, his spirit is the life in all..there is no other life and no separation in it..except to men who are separate..
Peace in Our Lord..

Actually it’s centered on Jesus, whether that is in Rome or your local church down the street or even in individual believers in private homes.

Actually it’s centered on Jesus, whether that is in Rome or your local church down the street or even in individual believers in private homes.

(Yes...I could have sworn Jesus said...oh, yup...just confirmed in my Bible):

18 Then Jesus came to them and said,

"ALL AUTHORITY

in heaven and on earth has been given to

ME.

19 THEREFORE

go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.

And surely I am with you ALWAYS, TO THE VERY END OF THE AGE.”

(Jesus, Matthew 28:18-20)

The going, the making disciples, the teaching, the baptizing...all dependent upon the "THEREFORE"...

If Jesus doesn't have every iota of authority, there is NO "therefore"...!!!

And Jesus made it clear that it wasn't a temporary "all authority" status by emphasizing how He's with His disciples "unto the end of the age."

Those who try to usurp Christ's authority are indeed simply that: Usurpers who sabotage and undermine Christ's very authority!

(And don't give us this "delegated" authority crap...Yes, Christ "authorizes" people...and yes, people who are "authorized" by Jesus indeed derive whatever sanction He provides directly from Him...but it's NOT a "delegation" as if He's not on the scene...He's still Lord of the Living on earth as well as in heaven)

Hundreds of millions of former Catholics just don’t see it in the Bible and consequently don’t believe it.

I don't know how many there are. I just know I am one, and if I remember right, you are too. At least in catholic school, the nuns taught me how to read and write, and taught me about the Trinity, and Jesus. I started to read my catholic Bible, at the urging of others, and guess what? I got saved, by reading the message in my catholic Bible. Then, I got a King James, of course. If it was good enough for Paul, it was good enough for me.

:-)
