Even further... Consider that the abuses Martin Luther posted about were generally cleaned up in the next generation or so. The things we are accursed for today in the eyes of Protestants (Mary, Mass, Eucharist, et al) weren't issues for Martin Luther. Had the Church reformed before the 95 Theses, we wouldn't have the divisions we do today.

My point in posting about the Church of today is that Protestants should carefully consider that they have survived under the protective umbrella of the Catholic Church. The rapid apostasy we are seeing in the Protestant world (gay clergy and weddings are just the beginning) shows how precarious faith can be without a central teaching authority to hold firm.

The entire time Jesus was suffering His Passion he was uttering the passages in the Psalms as he was fulfilling them. The “seven words” on the Cross were the times where His verbalization of those Pslams were audible.

Why must I do the work? Read the Gospel and compare what He said with what is in Psalms.

Not to knock this thread into outer space, but I once asked a Presbyterian turned Jew/member of the IDF finally turned Catholic (In Jerusalem) about this and she said without pause: He was saying Tehilim as any Jewish kindergartener would know to do. I didn’t get to ask much more about that as the conversation went off in a different direction but apparently Tehilim is what Our Lord was doing from the cross. Whatever that means...

I would not lean on that twig so fast. You have gay clergy as well. Also a pedophile and pederast problem. Perhaps your parish does not suffer from these scandals...As my assembly does not either.

Tehilim is what Our Lord was doing from the cross. Whatever that means...

I think God the father, son and holy spirit were all one at Christ’s death, and all shared equal consciousness all at once. To the extend that the Godhood could have ceased to exist, it died there on the cross. Christ said he and the Father one...it didn’t stop being so one the cross. The ark angels who held up the throne must have strained with the grief of the father. The very elements were shaking, the skies were dark and the temple veil was ripped in two!
Christ wasn’t alone, so much the entire God head was sharing the pain of the loss of life.

When the human body itself approaches death, folks who are conscious of impending death are fearful, afraid of being alone, as the body’s flight or fight responses near exhaustion. Jesus was in the throes of such exhaustion and his cry was a human response...much like a loved one who is dying but is comforted by soothing words or a held hand. But never think he was totally alone! Christ was man and God but suffered a very human death. His cry was a natural emotional and physical response.
Yet at the very end...his final words weren’t “My God why have you forsaken me” but...”It is finished!”

We are not all that far apart in theology.

You Catholics are just carrying a lot of unnecessary baggage around.

Sometimes I sleep at night.

In the mornings I find a LOT of responses to a thread while I was getting my much needed beauty rest.

Which of those would you want me NOT to respond to?

I'm a fast reader; others aren't.

If they cannot slip in between my posts; is that also my fault?
