>>at least we are following God’s will as servants of God<<

Um, no, Catholics claim to give dulia (Greek dulos) to saints and Mary.

Greek - doulos - properly, someone who belongs to another; a bond-slave, without any ownership rights of their own.

Rather than being servants of Christ.

Romans 1:1 Paul, a servant (doulos) of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle and set apart for the gospel of God--

Catholics give that dulia (dulos) to their so called saints and Mary don't they?

You have told me the Catholic spin on truth.

Your post #69: It’s like Bush derangement syndrome. He was too stupid to be president, but was smart enough to mastermind 9/11 to get us into war. Does the Westboro Wing of the Free Republic Evangelical Dispensationlist Causcus of the Free Repubulic Religious Forum (hat tip to lurked) have Catholic derangement syndrome?

Since I am Catholic I can't speak for our separated brethren.

Marcus Grodi’s “The Journey Home,” on EWTN, Mondays, is one of my favorites. Every story is different and fascinating. The converts are uniformly articulate, and I appreciate that Marcus rarely interrupts.

Have been watching his program for many years and cherish some of these conversion stories more than others. Roy Schoeman, former Jew, for example. There was the former Hindu who is now a priest (his Hindu family attended the ordination and chipped in to purchase the chalice), the biker whose conversion came via the Gideon bible in the motel room; he is now a Ruthenian monk. Too many to count. You can read many of these stories and/or watch the Journey Home videos at Grodi's web site: Coming Home Network.

It is not an easy religion and it puts a strain on the believer, but if you have found the Faith, work to keep it.

Works based religions are very difficult. Plus you can never have assurance of salvation because you never know how many points are enough to get you in.

I was raised in a Catholic family. Catholics worship Mary no matter how much Freepers here deny it.

Same questions I ask all the others specifically: 1) Who taught you that Marry is divine/ God?

2) Who taught you to worship Mary as God?

3) What does the Catechism, the official teaching of the Catholic Church say about Mary?

4) Where does the Catechism say that Mary is Divine/ God, cite the paragraph?

5) Specifically what members of your family taught you to worship Mary?

6) What members of your family believe that Mary is divine?

7) What members of your family worship Mary as they do God?

I believe in the Bible which is the Word of God:

Exodus 20:4-6 King James Version

4 “You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; 5 you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, 6 but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.

The serpent on Moses’ staff so that those who had been bitten by serpents, yet looked upon the staff, would be cured.

And I was raised in a Catholic family, and we did not. In my parish Mary is rarely mentioned, and then only as to request prayer to God.

God is the Father Almighty, Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Mary is not God, and the Church does not teach that she is.

Let’s see, Jan Hus, John Knox, and Menno Simons were all Catholic priests. Luther was a priest and theology professor, Thomas Cranmer was a Catholic archbishop and had degrees in theology and a doctorate of divinity. Martin Bucer was a Catholic priest, and a Dominican friar, having studied theology under the Dominicans.

I did not ask about priests. I asked about your assertion that some of the first Protestants were actually Catholic Theologians. Jan Hus was not a Protestant and predated the early reformers by a century or more. For minor theologians, by virtue of their university degrees, I grant you the notorius antisemite Luther, as well as King Henry VIII's man, Cranmer.

Same here.

I was raised Catholic.
Catholics worship Mary. Pray to Mary. Ask Mary for everything under the sun.

If the Catholic Church doesn’t want Mary worshipping to go on, then the Pope better tell all the Catholics to stop the worshipping. Because it is happening, no matter how much it is denied.

I find these articles interesting to read. I just never have wanted to post about the ex-Catholics that are very happy in my Baptist church. Know and love many of them. The absolute best workers in the church. I guess it is up to the believer where they go.
