Not with respect to the question of divine authority. Pets are not our ex nihilo creation. Their being and value still originate in God, not us. There is no fully adequate analogy. God as Creator is a one-of-a-kind case. I understand that the temptation is always to fall back into some defective analogy, but that leads to misunderstanding. This is one of the reasons for the tone of the book of Job. God ends up telling Job he just doesn't have either the comprehension or the standing to challenge God's exercise of divine authority. If we have faith, that faith is not just that God exists. It's that we really believe He is good, and worthy of our trust. We don't just believe something about Him. We really believe in Him.
Peace,
