It's so simple we confuse ourselves making it complex.

Yes the message is quite clear and simple. However, here on earth we are not promised a 'rose garden.' The narrow path requires us to wear our armor daily.

From http://www.gotquestions.org/Christian-law.html
...
In place of the Old Testament law, Christians are under the law of Christ (Galatians 6:2), which is to “love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind…and to love your neighbor as yourself” (Matthew 22:37-39). If we obey those two commands, we will be fulfilling all that Christ requires of us: “All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments” (Matthew 22:40). Now, this does not mean the Old Testament law is irrelevant today. Many of the commands in the Old Testament law fall into the categories of “loving God” and “loving your neighbor.” The Old Testament law can be a good guidepost for knowing how to love God and knowing what goes into loving your neighbor.

“This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome” (1 John 5:3). The Ten Commandments were essentially a summary of the entire Old Testament law. Nine of the Ten Commandments are clearly repeated in the New Testament (all except the command to observe the Sabbath day). Obviously, if we are loving God, we will not be worshipping false gods or bowing down before idols. If we are loving our neighbors, we will not be murdering them, lying to them, committing adultery against them, or coveting what belongs to them. The purpose of the Old Testament law is to convict people of our inability to keep the law and point us to our need for Jesus Christ as Savior (Romans 7:7-9; Galatians 3:24).

Especially since the works that Jesus told us to do was give a drink to those who are thirsty and feed those who are hungry.

And don't forget the most important work ...

John 6:28-29
28 Therefore they said to Him, "What shall we do, so that we may work the works of God?"
29 Jesus answered and said to them, "This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent."

John 4:34- that we finish and accomplish the Work He Gives us

Romans 12:1-2- make our body a living sacrifice , be not conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of our minds
Ephesians 5:17-18- be filled with The Spirit
Colossians 4:12- stand perfect and mature and fully assured in His will
1 Thesa 4:3- to be holy and keep away from sexual immorality
1 Thesa 5:18- in everything, Give Thanks
1 Peter 2:15- by doing well (well doing) we would silence the ignorance of foolish men
1 peter 3:17/4:19- that sometimes we should suffer for doing good and not evil.
2 Peter 3:9- that none should perish but that all should come to repentance.

"You must KNOW who and where you are IN CHRIST, and when and why Christ chose you, and His purpose for doing this."

Amen!..."These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God." (1 John 5:13)....knowing you have life is what enables you to do the work of God (John 6:29) "*a*n*d* that ye may believe"

"Armed with this revelation knowledge, you will not be sidetracked, or misled by religion, which has no place in the Body of Christ of this present age of Grace."

Kandy Atz,we are so on the same page on this! My own definition of a cult is this...with the truth, salvation is the FIRST thing settled, with ANYTHING else it is the last....period!

God bless

I recall one time at Bible study about my doubts if I was saved or not. One of the gals said “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for they will inherit the kingdom” (Or something like that). That ties in well with the “Yes I believe - help my unbelief.”

“For some reason that I still cannot understand, the Lord Jesus came to my aid.”

The Jews would make little altars(?) or “ebenezers” of such events as a reminder of God’s goodness. Reminders so that when their faith was low - they would have reminders. I know people that write in journals those things as reminders. I know one guy that buys some little object as a reminder and has them on his bookcase.

Heck - look at the psalms. “Why have you forsaken me?” What might be a sign of a lack of faith. But is followed up with remembering past events, and realizing that events in the future will again show God’s love to us.

Yep - as does the fact that Paul lamented that he did the evil he would not do and did not do the good that he would do - more poor in spirit attitude. I take it to mean that even though once we are saved, God keeps his promise to "forgive our wickedness and recognize our sins no more", we need also be aware of our problems as far as a continuing sinful nature and reflect on it. If your continued sinfulness bothers you, then you are on the right page.
