**more than half (54%) of the countrys Catholic priests go to confession no more than once a year, and only 58% of German priests report that they pray every day.**
Poorly catechized no doubt.
Objectively disobedient, since clergy and religious are required to pray the divine office daily, which would mean 3 -4 sessions of prayer per day. (The norm is also for priests to celebrate Mass daily, but it’s not an absolute requirement.)
priests, and deacons aspiring to the priesthood, are obliged to carry out the liturgy of the hours daily, in accordance with their own approved liturgical books; permanent deacons are to recite that part of it determined by the Episcopal Conference;
Truth is you don’t need to “go to confession”-—that is to a priest to confess your sins. You can confess them directly to God. You can confess your sins to anyone. According to the Bible:
“Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.”
James 5:16
No where can I find any passage which requires that you must confess your sins to a priest.
And we should cross the Tiber for what reason again?????
