If millions of people practice using a small brown scapula to try to improve their behavior, that is a great thing. Would you say the same thing if people were facing Mecca five times a day to "improve their lives"??

I didn’t claim I was forced to do anything. I saw a thread about the brown scapular and I clicked it of my own free will.
Nor was I the least bit indignant. It doesn’t bother me all that much (as evidenced by my lack of history posting on these threads). It’s something I’ve come to expect from adherents of the man-made faiths.

“If someone can be talked out of their faith this easily it wasnt much of a faith to begin with.”
Rationality has its limits, for sure. It is said you can’t be reasoned out of something you weren’t reasoned into. There’s some truth in that, but I’ve seen exceptions.

I applaud your post.
You will find it falls on either deaf ears or on those who would seek to justify themselves, though.
Catholics coined the phrase “invincible ignorance,” for a reason.

"When Im being lectured on the perils of the brown scapular by a member of a Presbyterian Church" is as clear as it needed to be.

*duties*?
That’s what Catholicism is all about..
Doing your duty to try to merit enough grace to attain heaven.
What futility.
I notice that there’s no mention of Jesus in there, or if there was, it was so fleeting that it was easy to miss.
But who needs Jesus when we have Mary?
They’re *Mary’s children* not children of God.
She protects and watches over them. Who needs the Holy Spirit when you have Mary. (And whatever happened to asking Mary to pray FOR her, as in they are not asking her to do things for them. I’d say that her watching over them and protecting them is doing something....)
The *Lady’s promise of salvation*?????
Who needs Jesus?
Jesus who?

LOL, so wearing a brown scapular is the same thing as being a Muslim now?
Ponderous man, ponderous.

I sure hope you not an attorney or teacher of young minds with your logic skills.
No, I'm not.

What truth?
Linking to a closed caucus thread?
Don’t waste the time or bandwidth.
If the thread is labeled caucus to keep outsiders out, then don’t post it to us to reference.
Don’t tell us you don’t want our input and then expect that we’ll go running to see what it says.

Nope....the poster was making a claim that wearing the brown scapular helped people lead better lives. The muslim could make the same argument.
In either case, it's a false god.

Somewhere, deep inside, some are not sure this mass and eucharist deal is adequate enough...or even prayers to Mary the mother of Jesus to forward at some point to her son...or even hearing an unknown and dead tongue such as Latin spoken in solemnity during very peculiar (Christian?) worship rituals and practices...or priests doing this and doing that and swinging this smoker and that and chanting the religious talk...and the Lord Jesus Christ is still either a little child or a corpse on a cross forever. Of course not.
Otherwise, they would be sure of where they're going to end up instead of thinking they'll find out when they get there.
Can you imagine? Ooops, you're three acts of mercy short. Too bad for you.....

Linking to a closed caucus thread? WE should have a private caucus room...
Oh! WAIT! We don't have anything to hide. In, fact: We are commanded to proclaim the Truth to the whole world.
I forgot.
