If someone can be talked out of their faith this easily it wasn’t much of a faith to begin with.

And if someone out there thinks their version of Christianity is superior, well, I guess that will be for God to decide.

But I think he mostly cares that you love him and his Son and try to live by His Son’s teachings. He knows humans will always squabble over semantics. It’s their nature and he forgives us

Have a good one!!

...just as deadly for the sincere Catholic as it is for the Hindu who bathes in the Ganges River thinking his sins will be washed away in the water or for the Muslim who kisses the black stone of Kaaba to be forgiven!

Touching Howard's Rock as players run down the hill at Clemson's Death Valley...doesn't work either.

What struck me was that nearly everything in that quote I have heard from pagan wiccans about the “goddess”

Great read.

Those wearing the scapular become eligible for what is known as the sabbatine privilege. This is understood to mean that those wearing the scapular, reciting daily the Little Office of Our Lady (or the rosary, in the case of the Blue Army members), and observing chastity according to their state in life, will be released from Purgatory on the first Saturday after death (or whatever is the equivalent of the first Saturday in the next life). The privilege is believed to have been based on a bull said to have been issued by Pope John XXII on 3 March 1322 after receiving the favour in a vision of Our Lady .... From this it seems that the Church is willing to accept that such souls will be released from Purgatory soon after death, and especially on a Saturday. (Ibid., pp. 122,123)

I believe another pope later cancelled Mary's Sabbatine Privelege, but the mere fact that they believed this nonsense and to this day believe she can save you shows how far removed they are from The Gospel.

The truth:

Millions of people wear the brown scapular thanks to this English mystic (Catholic Caucus)

The best known and most highly esteemed scapular, and the one most favored by the Church, and by the Blessed Virgin in many of her apparitions, is the Brown Scapular of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel. It is adapted from the scapular of the Carmelite Order and represents a special Consecration to Our Lady under the title of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel. Those who wear it practice it a special devotion to Mary. In the past this was the Little Office of Our Lady, but today this can be commuted by any priest to the rosary. In addition, the person has a special entrustment of themselves to Mary for their salvation. This, in fact, has been promised to those who faithfully wear the scapular: "Those who die wearing this scapular shall not suffer eternal fire." This must not be understood superstitiously or magically, but in light of Catholic teaching that perseverance in faith, hope and love are required for salvation. The scapular is a powerful reminder of this Christian obligation and of Mary's promise to help those consecrated to her obtain the grace of final perseverance.

I missed that part about wearing this idol in the New Testament. Paul didn't write about it nor did Peter, James, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Peter, Jude, etc.

And catholics claim they don't worship Mary.

And in the thread you link to in post #3 we see someone kneeling before Mary who is holding a baby Jesus.

The perfect depiction in catholicism of who is the most important.

Mary is prominent....and oh, yeah, don't forget about Jesus.

Plus, the inscription in the idol is a lie...."Those who die wearing this scapular shall not suffer eternal fire."

So that's what is required for salvation in catholicism....????

Our local “Mary Devotees” refuse to see it.

All we need is our King.

Every day is Kick a Catholic Day on FR. Now we’re being compared to Hindus and Islamists. It’s getting tiresome, but Catholics should expect a lot more of it, and worse, in the near future.
