Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

For the third time in the Biblical record, somebody thinks they are bringing GOOD News to David, expecting him to be glad and maybe offer a reward. And for the third time, they are somewhat astonished at David's reply. The only one who has learned a little about David's character after all these years is good old Joab, who seems to know how David will react to the news of the death of his spoiled, rebellious, vain, obnoxious, but BELOVED son Absalom. Joab is one of those "unsung" heroes of the Bible, like a loyal old general who endures through regime changes, coups, government ups and downs, and "modernization".

Yesterday, we saw how Mephibosheth, the lame man who was shown mercy and kindness, eventually turned against David and tried to usurp his rule. Today we hear of Absalom, David's own son, actually leading an armed rebellion and succeeding for a short while. One can only imagine what David was feeling at this time. Yet he never turned away from God.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.
