BREAKING: Pope takes major step toward formal heresy

"I feel like saying something that may sound controversial or even heretical. But there is someone who knows that despite our differences we are one. It is he who is persecuting us. It is he that is persecuting Christians today; he who is anointing us with the blood of martyrdom, knows that Christians are disciples of Christ. That we are one, that we are brothers! He doesn't care if they are Evangelicals, Orthodox, Lutherans, Catholics or Apostolic. He doesn't care! They are Christians."

Obama and the Pope both act like little Antichrists.

Oh?

These are the only places that antichrist is mentioned.

1 John 2:18
Dear children, this is the last hour; and as you have heard that the antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come. This is how we know it is the last hour.

1 John 2:22
Who is the liar? It is whoever denies that Jesus is the Christ. Such a person is the antichrist —denying the Father and the Son.

1 John 4:3
but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist , which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.

2 John 1:7
I say this because many deceivers, who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh, have gone out into the world. Any such person is the deceiver and the antichrist .

Then we have what MORMONism teaches about it...

"For unbelievers we will quote from the Scriptures - "Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God." Again - "Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh, is of God."

I will now give my scripture - "Whosoever confesseth that Joseph Smith was sent of God to reveal the holy Gospel to the children of men, and lay the foundation for gathering Israel, and building up the kingdom of God on the earth, that spirit is of God; and every spirit that does not confess that God has sent Joseph Smith, and revealed the everlasting Gospel to and through him, is of Antichrist.......

 - BrighamYoung

It is true that the earth was organized by three distinct characters, namely, Eloheim, Yahovah, and Michael, these three forming a quorum, as in all heavenly bodies, and in organizing element, perfectly represented in the Deity, as Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

Again, they will try to tell how the divinity of Jesus is joined to his humanity, and exhaust all their mental faculties, and wind up with this profound language, as describing the soul of man, "it is an immaterial substance!" What a learned idea! Jesus, our elder brother, was begotten in the flesh by the same character that was in the garden of Eden, and who is our Father in Heaven. Now, let all who may hear these doctrines, pause before they make light of them, or treat them with indifference, for they will prove their salvation or damnation.

I have given you a few leading items upon this subject, but a great deal more remains to be told. Now, remember from this time forth, and for ever, that Jesus Christ was not begotten by the Holy Ghost.

- JoD 1:50-51 (April 9, 1852)

You are correct.

Works DO mean nothing...

Please!

Do not say ‘behind’ in a C vs P thread.

We’ll get sidetracked.

The Sacraments and proper interpretation of the Bible, mainly.

Will NOT having these affect a person's salvation?

As per usual, well-stated, STA!

Oh?

So are you agreeing with his tactic of ripping a few words out of context and using them falsely?

What about Mishael, Azariah and that other guy?

Hananiah?😂🇵🇭 Someone else listed the people who wrote about Mary being important to a catholic's salvation. I am pretty sure when I asked about it, you were snoring away peacefully. You know, speaking of that. After I got saved, it even made me sleep better and easier. I am sure I am not the only one. 🇺🇸

Imagine that....and all the protestants on this post seem to agree that works mean nothing....

Please provide the post numbers to support your claim as I have not ever seen any Protestant claim that works don't mean anything.

Well, show us where in Scripture the following words are found: sacrament, eucharist, last rites, communion, confirmation, penance, mass, pope.

Show us where Jesus said to Peter, *You are the first pope. You are head over all the others*.

>>relying upon Mary for their salvation<<

I believe Mary was blessed, I believe she did find favor with the Almighty in his plan for salvation of the world.

I just don't find anywhere in scripture that Mary is to be worshiped, prayed to or held up in scripture as an advocate to the Father in His plan for salvation. It's just not there.

There are some Anglican churches that set aside time for those who choose to pray the rosary. In fact, the Anglican church does have it's own set of prayers of the rosary that does not incorporate invocations/prayers to Mary. I've prayed this set of rosary prayers many times.

>>HAIL, HOLY QUEEN, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness and our hope! To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve; to thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this vale of tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary!<<

I find several things outside of scripture in the above prayer. Hail Holy Queen...Mother of Mercy...our life...our hope...most gracious advocate...thine eyes of mercy.

Nowhere in scripture does it indicate Mary as holy queen, mother of mercy..our life, hope and gracious advocate.

It's just not there. Mary was not divine nor were the saints. They were human. Jesus is God, clothed in flesh yet sinless, this was done so we could experience the nature of our God on this earth and that he could carry out the plan of God for salvation. That is scriptural.

You are correct in that point, however, the documents we were referring to were originally written in Latin, which does have upper and lower case.

I just don't find anywhere in scripture that...

Begging the question.

You have reached the conclusion that all necessary and important things are contained in scripture. You can't use that to deduce that Marian devotions are unnecessary or are inappropriate when discussing the issue with people who do not believe the premise.

If the Word is not the source of truth relating to God and how to come to know Him and receive Salvation, then all other books are open to be used....the book of Mormon, the Koran, any of the false gospels from the early church period, the Vedas, etc.

If you reject that premise then a simple comparison of the Marian teachings of the RCC compared to the Word will show startling contradictions and errors.
