The hostile media uses "pastoral approach" as a code word for, precisely, refusal to treat homosexual attraction as a curable mental illness. This is the disconnect Rome should not try to paper over. The fear is that under Pope Francis a great impetus was given to commonly held understanding that the homosexuals are no less loved by God than anyone else. We also, together with the gay activists, believe that the sky is blue, pancakes are round, e=mc², etc. The disconnect still remains.
