Public Religion Research Institute Misleads On Catholic Attitudes

PRRI is listed in many sources as "non-partisan", but then the League of Women Voters is too.

Example of PRRI’s Board of Directors: Dr. Kenneth Samuel

Stone Mountain church gets backlash for same-sex stance

Victory for the World Church senior pastor Dr. Kenneth Samuel sees Obama's endorsement of gay marriage as the right thing for the country. He called his church's backing of the president "righteous" even if it means losing revenue and members after community television station WATC dropped the church's weekly broadcast.

You can quit wondering about that nonsense and read more about them

They are not Christians by objective logic

Yes, PRRI is a lefty outfit. But, like all polls, it relies on self-identification of the respondents (as does US government census data). In that sense, it’s equally unfair to all denominations.

There are sources that correlate opinions to intensity of belief and practice. On any given issue, those findings can be compared to PRRI.

"Would that a different denomination than “Catholic?”

Catholics who leave the Church and start their own little faction by definition are not Catholic.
Help me out here. Which of the several Presbyterian groups is the "real Presbyterian church" these days ? The ones who ordain women and queers but still believe in total depravity, or the totally depraved ones who don't ordain women and queers ?.

Or is it the group down the road who support a boycott against Israel, ordain women, don't ordain queers, and only believe in near total depravity?

Yes, PRRI is a lefty outfit.
Very. I just ran the board through the FEC political contribution database.

They aren't contributing to Republicans.

We have never said there were not apostate Presbyterian denominations.

I am trying to figure out the people in the “one” Roman Church who are in favor of homosexual marriage.

And those who are concerned about large corporations and the redistribution of wealth and claiming weapons manufacturers are not Christian. (sound familiar?)

I call foul. The second largest category (slightly behind Catholics) is "Unaffiliated". This category is extremely skewed in favor of gay marriage, yet no details are provided as to the makeup of this very large segment of the sample. Without it the overall average would indicate clear opposition to homosexual marriage.

However, that would be clearly unacceptable as it would contradict the party line that opposition to homosexual marriage is declining. I strongly suspect that the "Unaffiliated" category was manipulated to throw the results.

Please read and consider some excellent material on Jehovah’s Witnesses titled “Jehovah’s Witnesses—Are They Really?” at http://www.sgdpress.com/Jehovah_s_Witnesses.html

The major sections of this material are:

I. The Jehovah’s Witnesses organization was, admittedly, founded by and based upon the enforced acceptance of the teaching of false prophets, especially in the realm of Armageddon.

II. The Jehovah’s Witnesses have now, and have always had, an unscriptural “key” to understanding the Bible—their Watchtower publications.

III. The Jehovah’s Witnesses do not honor Jesus as they honor the Father and, instead, teach that He is a created being unworthy of worship.

IV. The Jehovah’s Witnesses propagate teachings directly contradictory to plain Bible teaching on many vital subjects.

Faithful, practicing Catholics will not favor gay marriage at all!

Absolutely right, none who I know at least. And neither will Southern Baptists who attend church regularly and believe the bible is God's holy, inerrant, written Word to all mankind.

I don't know who came up with those ridiculous stats, but I don't believe them any more than I believe in the good "fairy". (pun intended)

A quote to those hypocrites you know that call themselves Catholic.

“If someone says they’re Catholic, but.......

They are not Catholic”.

Archbishop Fulton Sheen

Another quote.

“All the evil in the world is due to lukewarm Catholics”.

~ Pope Pius V

Yes. What difference is it if one or a hundred million agree to same sex marriage? It would still be as sinful.

How sad that the only opposition to so-called same sex marriage is thought to be religious or faith-based. It’s a violation of the natural law that even a noble (or even ignoble) pagan knows. It’s knowable by reason alone even before religion or faith teaches it. How sad that so many people are so dumbed down that they think it’s only an exotic religious teaching. I continue to struggle with uncharitableness but so many are so dumb today!
