The scripture is pretty simple. It’s a symbol. It is a SIMPLE symbol that represents the foundational teaching upon which Christianity exists.

It shocks some Catholics when I mention that my wife and I sometimes take communion after a meal at home.

“As often as you do this, do it in remembrance of Me...”

The Old Covenant was full of symbols; read Hebrews. Jesus came to bring something better than a new set of symbols.

“As often as you do this, do it in remembrance of Me...”

THIS what??

A yearly meal of REMEMBERANCE.

Most folks recognize it as the PASSOVER meal.

Thanks be to God for your open witness of Him in your life. There's a special sparkle to Truth!

In the early years of the Church of Jesus Christ --not the Methodist Church, or the Baptist Church or the Catholic Church, etc, the Church of Jesus, the Bride of Christ, the Body of Christ-- the breaking of bread and cup of remembrance wine was most often done in someone's home. Passover is meant to be observed in the home. The family of God will soon be in 'The Father's House'. God is coming in the Air to get all His temples and gather them to Himself and head back to His House for a really big celebration with family members.

I'm going to do that Remembrance this very evening, in the company of my little tuxedo cat. She won't know what I'm mumbling about, but I will, and more importantly GOD will.

Everything in the OT that foreshadowed the Messiah was symbolic.

Outward religious rituals do not indicate or make a changed heart.

Matthew 15:7-20 You hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy of you, when he said: “‘This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me;in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’”

And he called the people to him and said to them, “Hear and understand: it is not what goes into the mouth that defiles a person, but what comes out of the mouth; this defiles a person.”

Then the disciples came and said to him, “Do you know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this saying?” He answered, “Every plant that my heavenly Father has not planted will be rooted up. Let them alone; they are blind guides. And if the blind lead the blind, both will fall into a pit.”

But Peter said to him, “Explain the parable to us.” And he said, “Are you also still without understanding? Do you not see that whatever goes into the mouth passes into the stomach and is expelled? But what comes out of the mouth proceeds from the heart, and this defiles a person. For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false witness, slander. These are what defile a person. But to eat with unwashed hands does not defile anyone.”

Is this a foundational teaching--doctrine--of His command(s), one of His principal Ordinances?

With all due respect, in what sense is this an authorized meeting of the totality in a locality of all the regenerated individual disciple-believers summoned together--assembled, congregated--for the teaching and watchfully preserving without change whatsoever He has commanded?

Is this an observance conducted in His Name (that is, commanded and authorized by Him)? Should others imitate it also?

Amen. The Lord’s Supper is to be a memorial to Christ not a weird eating of a body and drinking of blood.

Yeshua told his disciples that as often as they break the barley loaf, they are to do it in remembrance of him.

So your remembrance at home is exactly what he asked us to do.
