I agree. But I can foresee a scenario wherein one poster will critique the pope and another will refer to this thread. Regardless what you or I may believe and how clear it may be to us, clarity might eliminate future issues, and I believe that is the point of this thread.

When a Pope is wrong he’s wrong. And this one is wrong about a lot of things. He’d do well to stick to his knitting.

To non-Catholics the Pope is a public figure who makes statements pertinent to public issues. He is not immune from criticism for that reason. Now bashing a Catholic teaching from the Pope might be subject to JR’s ban. For instance claiming the Pope is planning on reviving the worship of Ishtar because he gives a world leader an icon of the Virgin Mary.
