Jim,

To my extreme disappointment I’ve actually seen it go both ways with Catholics posting blame to Protestants. For example, an alleged Priest blamed manifestations of the Protestant Reformation for the SCOTUS ruling on same-sex marriage. I posted that this condescension was uncalled for and out of order as pedophilia in many churches including Catholic churches left all with unclean hands.

The bashing both ways needs to stop and you are 100% correct to warn people about it but I would add that the warning should go both ways.

There is an educational benefit to posting of the hostilities among Christians but not in the continuation of hostilities but in expounding the history of such conflicts. Civil discourse of the historical basis for conflicts helps illuminate all sides of such conflicts.

Christians have killed and terrorized other Christians for centuries with a notable recent example of Sinn Fein in Ireland. The benefit of education is to understand how it is that disputes among Christians flow into militant groups that are looking for a fight, any fight and how to air such disputes without inciting violence.

SinnFein mixed its militaristic Catholicism and violence with a political desire to see all Ireland united under one country, as a Catholic country and the Brits kicked out. There was nothing really Catholic or Christian about who they were and what they did.
