It really is a low bar, but I keep seeing that from Trump supporters...."He's better than what we have now", etc.
We can do much better.
" Seriously, thought, isnt it refreshing to have a candidate who says what he wants and stands by it? That alone will earn him votes."
No, because he isn't my candidate. I haven't dived into the cult of personality. I take his words for what they are---necessary, blunt statements.
He's a liberal Democrat and I don't vote for those.
Trump took a pro-life position today — banning abortion at twenty week pregnancies, something like that. So that’s progress
TADA!
No sale.
He’s “liberal” if you are a extreme right wind fanatic. Otherwise, no, not really and not much different than most republicans, even Cruz.
Right. I couldn’t find any indication of what their affiliation might be. Actually, it’s what is in Donald’s heart, anyhow. “Man looks on the outward appearance, but God looks on the heart.”
He has stated several times that after he takes communion he feels cleansed. Only the Holy Spirit can do that. Also, that statement indicates to me a measure of faith on Trump’s part. It also says to me that Trump innately knew that he NEEDED cleansing. God is not finished with His work-in-progress named Donald Trump. Trump needs our prayers more than our criticism.
Ronald Reagan was a Presbyterian.
Isn’t the PCUSA the branch of Presbyterian that is for same sex marriage, women preachers, etc., just about every liberal belief imaginable? If so, all his Christian conservative talk is just that...talk.
All protestant mainline denominations currently are split between their liberal and conservative wings as Jews are currnently split between their orthodox conservative and liberal wings.
It would be helpful to know what side of the Presbyterian Church Trump currently inhabits before making judgements.
If he is in the PCUSA then he’s in the liberal wing. If he’s in the PCA then he’s in the conservative wing. Manhattan currently has active branches of both sub denominations.
See comments 35, 37 and 38.
But the most offended Presbyterians will be those of whom Trump claims to be affiliated, the more liberal Presbyterian Church (USA). The PCUSA is pro-choice while Trump is pro-life. The PCUSA is pro-amnesty on immigration, Trump is not. The PCUSA is pro-progressive tax reform, Trump is not. The PCUSA is pro-gay marriage, Trump is not. The PCUSA has plans to overhaul the U.S. financial and political sectors in ways that are contrary to Trumps known business practices. The PCUSA advocates for the redistribution of wealth, Trump, well, hes not.

He says that he has changed his positions, and some people trust him.

Yeah. PCUSA is extremely liberal. "THE" Liberal Presbyterians. How that impacts his conservatism is yet to be seen, but any claim to mainline Religious Right is certainly not helped by this association.
I am curious as to when he was last in a church, Presbyterian or other?
At least they are his wives, unlike several Democrat presidents.
Trump says he will stand up and fight for Christians and there are people here criticizing him for it? You deserve Hilliary!
There’s also EPC - Evangelical Presbyterian Church...not sure if there’s any in NYC area.
