So you’re saying that this poster’s father is the Devil? Am I interpreting this correctly?

Brought your big turd-cannon today, I see.

But you still can't offer a modicum of proof or evidence that Evangelicalism existed before the 18th century or so.

What is it then? Evangelicals existed from the beginning but left nothing behind? Clung to Bible alone, before the Bible existed?

The Bible contains inspired Scripture. Scripture has been around for long before Catholicism came on the scene.

Bible alone = Scripture alone, so yes, it has been around since the beginning.

The Canon of the New Testament was around since Christ resurrected and ascended?

BTTT No one promised easy. Thanks for the reference.

Jesus did.

Matthew 11:30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

I said Scripture.

Scripture is what points to Jesus.

Scripture is what Jesus used to defeat the temptations of Satan in the wilderness.

Scripture is what the Bereans were commended for studying to see if what Paul was telling them was so.

Scripture is what Paul told Timothy would make one wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.

Yup. Been around a LONG time, way before Catholicism.

You are aware, aren’t you, that the OT has enough in it about Jesus to come to faith in Him?

So the NT was not necessary? The OT was sufficient?

Jesus did.

My inner Protestant is making an unfortunate appearance: I feel right with the Lord, but not right with His Church. I was the example student at RCIA, being a former Evangelical. Becoming Catholic did not void the Holy Spirit.

To recognize Jesus. Yes.

Was the NT necessary?

Yes, otherwise God would not have given it.

For those who are still practicing, around 73 percent said they've been in the Church their entire life

When I am asked if I've been Catholic my entire life I say, "Not yet."

Mark, thank you for post 53 of what the Pope Emeritus wrote 50 years ago. It is becoming a bit of prophesy.

So what did the priest say to you.

Another point — once baptized a Catholic you are always a Catholic; you just aren’t an active one.
