Imagine if the Watergate break-in had yielded evidence that the Dem nominee (not McGovern- despite his failings, he was a patriot and true war hero) was planning to do what the Obama Administration has done.
This information would have been leaked to the press and broadcast media. It would have been a big story. There could have been charges of treason considered if not prosecuted.
Nixon would have won by 75% of the popular vote rather than 60%.
If the break-in had been tied back to the Nixon White House in the midst of the firestorm, Nixon might even have been hailed as a hero for having stopped a communist/Muslim plot.
Indeed, how things have changed.
