Germany’s bishops just published an apologia for gay ‘marriage’ – this crosses a whole new line

The German bishops continue their march towards schism. Today, on their own website, they published an apologia for same-sex “marriage,” crossing a whole new line in their battle to reform the Church’s basic moral teachings.

In an essay titled “Love Counts” on Katholisch.de, theology student Simon Linder argues that since the “societal climate” in Germany has changed, one does not have to justify oneself anymore when defending the idea of “marriage for all.” Rather, says Linder, those opposed to same-sex “marriages” have to defend themselves. And he asks: “Where does the Church have the idea … that homosexuality is a burden for male and female homosexuals? And more fundamentally: Who gives the Church the right to declare homosexuals as people who are to be pitied?”

In his six-page long essay, Linder criticizes German Bishop Stefan Oster, who oversees the diocese of Passau, for defending the traditional moral teaching of the Church on sexuality, claiming that to say it is a scandal to ask to bless homosexual couples “is a scandal” itself. With reference to Ireland, Linder insists that people are now demanding “more rights for the male and female homosexuals.”

Hey, if they’re in “schism,” the Vatican is leading it.

I assume Cupich, probably Wuehl. But I think the Germans know they might lose hence the annulment reforms - I’ll take that trade.

Homosexuality is simply not normal. For 20,000 years and for 5,000,000,000 people, most of whom know that homosexuality is not normal.

These bishops can pretend until they’re blue in the face, but it’s not normal for a member of any species to behave in a way that would cause the entire species to go extinct if the behavior was widespread.

“one does not have to justify oneself anymore when defending the idea of “marriage for all.”

Does that include polyamory?
Does that include incestual marriage?

Oh... by “all” marriage you mean just the marriage that’s politically correct now within the last 10 years?

You’re nothing but a temporal hack worshipping the golden bull. (And is it any wonder Islam is gaining ground as it’s closer to God’s word than Western Christianity which continues to spit in God’s eye and call it rain.

If homosexuality was truly naturally occurring, wouldn’t it have been “breed out” millennia ago? Natural selection and all . . .

since the “societal climate” in Germany has changed

Since the societal climate in Germany has changed, all German Catholic bishops will hereafter be referred to as "Ayatollah" and priests as "Imam".

Probably Cupich.

Oddly enough, I recently saw a very good statement from one of our worst bishops, Wuerl of DC, whom I have heard referred to as “Wuerl the Girl.” So you never know what side people are going to be on.

According to classic liberal and evolutionary thought, if homosexuality was truly a genetic issue, it would have been eliminated from the gene pool a long time ago as it confers no benefit to the survival of the species. As I have always said, the logical consequence of homosexuality is the end of the human race in one generation. If it is good enough for a pathetic 1.5% of the population, it is good enough for everyone. Their twisted logic makes no sense. It is moral, not genetic.

Have you read Edward Pentin’s “The Rigging of a Vatican Synod? An Investigation of Alleged Manipulation at the Extraordinary Synod on the Family”?

According to Pentin’s sources, Wuerl “got really angry” because members of the drafting committee working on the final report ignored Cardinal Napier’s concern regarding the fact that the paragraph on same-sex unions hadn’t been removed from the section on marriage. This is the same Wuerl who stripped Fr. Guarnizo of his faculties for refusing Holy Communion to a Buddhist lesbian.

“theology student”

No guarantee of gradation.

No certainty of Ordination.

And even if graduated, and selected for a teaching position, remember: 50% of all theology teachers graduated in the bottom half of their class.

The headline is confusing; it says “Germany’s bishops” as if referring to them collectively. But the apologia is from a mere theology student, and is in opposition to at least some German bishops. I’m wondering if this isn’t akin to when the “USCCB” endorsed Brokeback Mountain. (A movie reviewer hired by the USCCB endorsed it in a publication of the USCCB. He was fired shortly after.)

Not necessarily. Many diseases are genetic in origin, but they persist because they exhibit a phenomenon known as “partial dominance,” and the partially dominant state confers some benefit so that “rather gay” men were more likely to breed than totally straight men. If a recessive gene is found in 10% of all men; it would only be fully expressed in 1% of men. The partially dominant trait would only have to increase successful reproduction by more than 10% to make up for the recessive trait absolutely preventing reproduction.

However, it’s pretty clear that homosexuality is largely non-genetic. Studies of twins show a very low correlation, whereas a purely genetic trait would show 100% correlation.
