At World Meeting of Families, homosexuality dominates talk
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette ^ | September 25, 2015 | Peter Smith

He cited an online post he had seen from a 17-year-old gay Catholic. "The church has a lot to say about what I'm not supposed to do," the youth wrote. "But ... I couldn't find any church document (about) what a gay person is supposed to do with his life. I feel abandoned by the church."

He said the church teaches much about the beauty of marriage, but then tells its gay members they "can't have this wonderful thing."

Single and celibate or married to a woman and faithful.
Just like the guy who is attracted to children of either gender, the homosexual shouldn’t indulge the impulse due to the negative results. The poor life outcomes associated with the lifestyle, from greater STD rates to the increased odds of dangerous addictions because they don’t have a stable female partner to prevent it, means Canadian homosexual men live 20 years less than the average straight guy - AIDS not even included.
And heterosexual marriage IS an option. Dennis Prager has brought up how many women crying over their inability to find a husband is ignored as one of the impacts of men pairing off with men. And many of the more effeminate men would be caring, sensitive husbands and good fathers. If 2% of the guys are homosexual, you lose 2% of some of the best potential husbands for the women.

I don’t know that the church has ever excluded homosexuals (they are far from gay) as long as they do not practice they’re homosexuality.

Cardinal Danneels congratulated Belgian gvmt for legalizing gay ‘marriage’

Francis has personally chosen Danneels to participate in Francis' SinNod Part II.

No. Quit ruining his life with faith. Take responsibility and think for himself.

The Church is the "home," so to speak, of moral absolutes.

The Church used to be; but it's no longer with Francis.

The sins of adultery, polygamy, homosexuality are no longer "absolutes".

Church says same-sex attraction is a disorder and if you have it you are to live a celibate life. Most with this disorder who go to church and celibate are happier than they have ever been in their lives. The reason? Homosexuals might look happy on the outside, but they are miserable on the inside because they know it is wrong to act on this impulse. Alcoholism rates, suicide rates, and drug abuse rates of active homosexuals are sky high because they are tormented people and Christ is the answer for them just like He is for every one.

"17-year-old gay Catholic... Is that similar to a round square?"

Not necessarily. From what we know via this article, the kid didn't say he was having sex with guys, or even that he intended to. He might have meant he just finds that his sense of sexual attraction is drawn to guys, not girls. He has noticed that that's te way his attentions flow.

He may end up being a faithful chaste and celibate Catholic like the workshop speaker, Ron Belgau. His path may not be easy; it may require a lot of self-denial; but we're all called to be saints.

I wonder what you (or any of us) might have to offer as good pastoral strategies toward caring for gay people who turn up in the parish, for instance in the RCIA program? Or as parents of children who are enrolled in the parochial school?

So, you feel you can’t have this beautiful thing. OK, so why do you feel that you want this fecal saturated and nasty-ass thing instead?

Could the answer be sin and the love of sin?

Now there's one dysfunctional family.

Statistically, just think of the odds.

“But ... I couldn’t find any church document (about) what a gay person is supposed to do with his life. I feel abandoned by the church.”

Seriously. Wrong.

Consider the case of the Apostle Paul and the Church at Corinth. In chapter 5 of 1 Corinthians, Paul comes into a Church where a man is cohabiting with his mother in law. Paul declares this to be the sin it is, and he not own tells the person committing the sin that he must be put out of the Church until he repents, he takes the Church to serious task for giving the guy a pass.

Read the chapter yourself and then repeat the question above. Here is a man committing a substantial sin, and the Church doesn’t have a place for him. Yes, indeed. God calls upon him to stop his sin or else God cannot grant this person salvation.

What about “don’t commit sin” is hard to understand?

Read Revelation 22:15. No person who lives in sin can be granted salvation. One of those sins is homosexuality.

Should such a man tell the woman (whose company he's seeking) that he actually doesn't find her sexually attractive? Or just string her along without saying anything?

Serious question. Came up in our Wednesday Bible Class.

The Church is asking no more of this kid than it does of normal kids: stay chaste until the Sacrament of Marriage.

Why all this intense focus on homos?

“far from gay”????
If you were my age you would remember that gay meant happy.
The libs had to make homosexuals sound happy and normal so they pushed the word gay to define them. This is just another way to attack traditional values and they have been very successful at it. They have been so successful that most people don’t know what gay really means.
